So for a day I wasn't going anywhere, I sure was out and about a lot today!

We hadn't been going to be home all weekend, so we didn't have much in the way of comestibles left.  So once I had thoroughly woken up (that is to say, about three hours after I got out of bed), I went grocery shopping.

The first stop was Food Lion, since that's just down the hill from here.  At this point (12:30-ish), it was still only raining, with a few random snowflakes mixed in.  And let me tell you, I have never seen a store so empty on a Saturday in my life - not even back in the days when wives didn't work, and were able to do all their shopping on Thursday when the sale flyers came out!  However, they didn't have everything that was on my list, so once I came home with a truckload* of groceries, I set forth once more.  (*Ok, so maybe it wasn't quite that much.  But it's going to be a while before I run out of diced tomatoes again, ok?)

The next stop was a shop that repairs cellphones; I should hear back from them early next week.  By this time, there was snow mixed in the rain

Then I went to Wegman's Fairfax.  I was glad that they have an underground garage, and furthermore, I was lucky enough to find a parking space quickly.  As usual, I spent too much, but I was pleased with my purchases, and did manage to find some wasabi for killernurd.

When I exited Wegman's, the weather had progressed to rain mixed with snow.  Nonetheless, I decided to hit one more store before home, and headed for the Trader Joe's in Centreville.  By the time I got there, it was no longer raining, and the snow was heavier.  This was a quick trip, because I knew exactly what I wanted and where to find it - and it was all in the same aisle.  Alas, even there I failed to escape without impulse purchases - but how could I pass up the edamame once I'd seen them?

And then I finally headed home.  It had progressed to what I call a "Virginia snow":  big, fluffy flakes that stick prettily to grass and so on, but not to the roads.

And now we've got a couple of inches out there, and the dogwood tree is really pretty - and the nasty snow is sticking to the road and sidewalks.  *sigh*  I'll have a lot of shovelling to do tomorrow...and no dr_zrfq to help.

shopping, snow
