This is kind of a weird story for those of us who have been hanging around in fandom for the past decade (plus) and remember when the Cassie Claire brouhaha blew up: Cassandra Clare is being sued for copyright infringement. Even weirder? After reading a couple of different articles about the case, I think I'm Clare's side. There are dozens of books ( Read more... )

Well, even if you don't have anything to say - it was nice to hear from you.

I saw! And yes, it seems more like general ideas/themes than lifting stuff word-for-word, so...

Anyway, blast from the past.

Also good to see you. I wish I could talk Agent Carter with you, but sadly it's not showing on any channel I have access to.

And feel free to ramble about anything - politics is always good at this time. I forget where you stand on Hillary...

Oh, I'm firmly in the pro-Hilary camp. Come on, my favorite characters are Buffy and Scully. Clearly, I have a soft spot for strong-willed women who are constantly devalued by the patriarchal establishment.:) I think it would be an amazing thing to get someone who has spent her entire career working passionately for the betterment of women and children into the White House. I don't disagree with Sanders on anything major, but I think Clinton has more realistic and do-able plans, and honestly, I'm just excited to vote for a woman - a woman whose career I've been invested in for more than twenty years - for president.

Meanwhile, the state I live in will almost certainly go for Trump, which is both depressing and upsetting.

I thought so, but it's been a while since 2008...

I never had any particular feelings on Hillary, but this time round I find myself in her corner, partly just because of all the shit she has to deal with.

(Follow my politics tag on LJ if you're curious.)

Although this is possibly the best thing I've come across so far: I was born to do this.

Livejournal was the Tumblr of the early 2000s! Which makes me both curious and a little scared about what fandom will move to after Tumblr.

Urgh yes, it made the season feel really unbalanced when exactly half of the episodes were by CC. Hopefully they can work out a deal of up to say 10 episodes or more if/when we get another season, then there will be a better balance of writers in the middle at least

If they do go up to as many as ten episodes, I think it would be great if they got some fresh blood in the writer's room. I mean, they should definitely bring back Morgan, Morgan, and Wong if they can, and do whatever possible to bring in Vince Gilligan for an episode or two, but taking a chance on some new writers with new ideas might really shake things up in a good way.

...but I have caught a few scenes, and yeah...the chemistry still makes me stop dead in the middle of channel flipping and start to get sucked in. It could power cities!

It's insane! During a few of their scenes together this season I find that I'm watching with this huge smile on my face, even though the episodes around them are not necessarily very good. Chris Carter has done so much wrong as a writer and showrunner, but the fact that he cast the two of them opposite each other pretty much makes up for everything else.
