This is kind of a weird story for those of us who have been hanging around in fandom for the past decade (plus) and remember when the Cassie Claire brouhaha blew up: Cassandra Clare is being sued for copyright infringement. Even weirder? After reading a couple of different articles about the case, I think I'm Clare's side. There are dozens of books/movies/TV shows that use the same tropes that both Kenyon and Clare use in their fiction, so the idea that Kenyon has some kind of ownership of them is kind of ridiculous. (Full disclosure: I'm no fan of Kenyon's.)

I think a lot about posting here. I WANT to. But I just don't have anything to say. I'm not particularly excited about anything I'm watching these days; I enjoyed Galavant and continue to like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (my sweet spot is apparently low-rated musical TV shows), and I watch Agent Carter every week but am not sure I could explain the plot if I tried. Mostly I just enjoy Hayley Atwell wearing smart '40s outfits and winning elaborate fights. I was enjoying Arrow at the beginning of the season, but now that they're wrapped up in a plot about Oliver's secret son I'm just barely paying attention.

And then there's The X-Files. Before the season started, a TV critic that I follow on Twitter said that based on the first three episodes, this season was about on par with S7, which seems about right to me. One thing that is certainly clear is that at this point, Chris Carter is the worst writer on the show. The first episode was a mess, and the most recent was a racist mess, and I'm kind of dreading what the finale is going to bring. My number one wish for the next season (which I think is inevitable) is that he turns over the majority of the writing duties to someone else. ANYONE else.

What makes it worth watching is Mulder and Scully. Honestly, it's too bad that they can't bottle that chemistry and sell it to other shows, because whatever they've got still works.
