For the Greater Good -- or not

Right, so just after I decided to take a little break from anything involving deadlines, this shows up. And I'm tempted, yet conflicted. Fun or stressful? Is it a good opportunity to write the AU of Epic Proportions Which I Already Started Ages Ago? Would anyone care to read it? Or should I just stay away, considering I haven't read or reviewed any ( Read more... )

No Springtime for me this year. I know it's due after my dissertation, but by that time I'll be freaking out about my final year exams and I'm just thinking that is generally a Bad Idea for me to be considering any real fests until I'm well out of the school-tide time, perhaps even until I'm settled back in the States (which may mean no winter fests for me too - but we'll see; that's a ways away). I hope you have fun with whichever ones you choose to participate in! :D

I have a dissertation too, but I thought maybe a project on the side would be a nice distraction... We'll see. Good luck with your academic endeavours. :-)

Good luck with your academic endeavours as well! I'm sure you're much more capable with such things than I am. I'm sure a project on the side would be a nice distraction for me, but unfortunately I tend to stress over fests too much and thus while it would be a distraction, it'd be a big stressor, too. :X Figured I'd avoid that!

Oh, I don't know -- you seem very diligent, while I tend to laze around a lot and then panic just before deadlines. Pretty counterproductive, unfortunately. *g*

*sends good vibes* You are awesome. I am awesome. We can do it! *nods*

Considering my love for gen fic last year, I'd love to do it, but nope.

I'm still displeased by their re-gifting process with pinch-hitters *nods* A shame, though, really, since this is like the only real gen fest exchange left, I think.

I understand that. *nods* Have you told the mods as much? I'm sure they wouldn't mind some polite-but-honest feedback?

I did try to tell them that last year, that if they were to re-gift stuff, they should get the pinch-hitters preferences, but they said that gen isn't squickable compared to het/slash exchanges ~_~;;;

Huh. I have a couple of non-sexual squicks of my own, so that's a logic I don't follow... Good thing you discussed it with them, though.

Even though last year I received a springtime_gen gift that's one of my all-time favorites, I've decided to say "no" to the fest this year. I'm doing femmefest again, and Beholder, and now I have bi-monthly Daily Deviant fics to produce (not to mention the two professional papers I have to write). But I'm sorry, since last year's fest was such a highlight.

As for AD/GG, consider me the little devil on your shoulder, the one that says, "you want to do it, you know you do, you SHOULD do it, it won't be so hard." Etc.

Thanks for the Petunia/Vernon rec; I'll look forward to it.

Sorry to hear you're not playing, but I'm glad you have fond memories of last year's fest. While the sign-ups for Springtime Gen end today, there's still some time left to decide on the AD/GG BB, so... We'll see.

Hope you'll like the Petunia/Vernon story! It really fits well with canon, I think.

I would care to read it, but I think you're a great writer too, so that might be my bias X)

Aw, thanks. *g* Are you planning on signing up to do art?

I probably will, I've done art for fics in the past, so it isn't a giant leap for me. Might write this time around too. We'll see. :)

I still haven't completely decided against doing springtime_gen this year, but although I was able to handle it, au_bigbang, and ides_of_april last year, I am considerably busier this year (not to mention an enormous RL deadline at the beginning of April). It's a shame, because I do love that exchange and I've always been thrilled with the fic. I'll definitely be reading, one way or the other!

Oh, that pesky RL. Sure you don't want to sign up to write a tiny, little 1000 word fic? I'm in if you're in...

Well, there is one person asking for just the sort of fic I've been itching to write in the HP-verse, and it would give me an excuse...I have the rest of the day to mull it over and will probably decide tonight.

I just signed up, myself. *g* Hope to see you there as a reader, at any rate!
