That was unusual and thoughtful. I confess not to like to think of our boys growing old but grow old they will, God willing, and when they do I think it would be lovely if they still love and support each other like these men do.

I often wonder why I seem to be compelled to imagine them in the future. I've finally decided it's exactly what you say: it would be lovely if they still love and support each other My impatience makes me write instead of waiting to see.

Thank you!

Like balm to a wounded spirit.

You write about them and life so beautifully.

Oh, gosh, I'm so glad to hear that. Because I surely do love them. Thank you!

This story is a wonderful look at an aspect of aging that frightens a huge number of us, I think. Having met JRD for the second time this past month, and having had several very pleasant encounters with him, it grieves me enormously to think of his brilliant and probative mind coming apart like this. It makes me just as sad to think of a world in which Dom and Elijah are so sad, and that Viggo, Ian and Billy are all having to cope with the unpleasant physical effects of aging ( ... )

Mmm, I just revel in your comments, Catherine. You are wonderful! Thank you very much. I could talk about this story all day; it took me seven months to write, and oh, my poor, poor betas had to put up with me whining on a regular basis.

Off topic: I'm so glad to hear your thoughts about Sean Astin. I hope you'll write in more detail about your recent encounters with the Fellowship you've met recently

Back to the story: you handled John's concerns about Western civilization with great respect and dignity.Whew! I really, really struggled with that. In fact, that's the primary reason why the story took so long: I wanted to be both faithful to John but also sympathetic. He doesn't make that an easy task, at least not for me. One of my betas who is less familiar with John that you was quite shocked by his words. I've actually saved all the transcripts of interviews I read with him in case I needed to point out that yes, those really are his words ( ... )
