[OOC: You know when your life sucks.

Sometimes to remind you just how much your life sucks, they throw in a festival.

But instead of getting a nifty, neat episodic conclusion, Marian found The Door. Which meant returning to work in the House of Arch for Little Lady Ingress. Which ended of course, naturally and normally. But almost produced a ( Read more... )

X slips into a seat at Marian's table, studying the other woman's hands.

She does not say anything, but eventually she looks back up at Marian's face.

Still silent.

Marian's gaze shifted when the seat moved, even though it was a quiet movement. The girls eyes on her hands caused her to look back and involuntarily squeeze them suddenly. She was, perhaps, not quite ready for someone, beyond the someone she'd exploded upon, to realize just how grand her confusion was.

When she looked back up, she found herself staring into blue silent eyes, and at a loss for what exactly to say. Which caused her first to glance at the table, and then back up again.

"You are not all right."

She smells--off.

Green eyes narrow slightly as she studies the other woman.

Marian pressed her lips together, entirely betraying the part of her ready to give off half a dozen responses to the contrary, but she let out a breath between her lips and shook her head.

"No."

There was a breath, that tried but never became a part-laugh.

"Not alright is a very good word for it."

There's a very small blonde girl who comes toddling over.

"Hey-o," she says, smiling.

Chances are good her mother is around somewhere.

One hopes.

Little children, no matter the world or time, have extraordinarily amazing powers.

Like the one that is seemingly innocent, and terribly insidious, such as their cute little half-learned speech, which moves tiny fluffy almost pillowy cheeks.

And causing people to smile, who'd thought minutes ago they might not.

"Hi, there," Marian said, leaning down from the seat. "Aren't you a little young for having the run of a bar?"

"Susan," she says, which doesn't actually answer the question. But possibly supplies useful information.

"Tea?" she adds, hopefully.

"Well, that would solve a very many questions."

Marian laughed, even though she felt it impossible as it happened.

"I do have tea, if you would like some," she offered, holding out her arms to help the girl get closer to the table. "And would I be correct in assuming, you must be the ever much older little Susan belonging to miss Amy, then?"

Festival of Pain. Engagement of Doom.

At least these are the thoughts of Maid Marian.

Who instead looked up, at the face of someone she wasn't quiet sure she'd met before, carefully.

"It's been a very long day."

Belated few seconds pause.

"Would you like a seat?"

Narration is, of course, stoic, and does not giggle.

"Thank you."

She extended her hand, and shook his. Though it was a second later than natural perhaps. It was something she'd learned here and the day had worn.

"My name is Marian. Have you been in Milliways long? I have had a tendency to miss people coming and going since I started working in Arch."

A young girl, who's just new here herself, comes up to the woman. She can't help but be curious about her expression.

"You all right?" She asks quietly.

"I'm getting--" the sentence started as she was raising her gaze from her tea cup to the girl, and stopped almost as abruptly as started.

Her head tilted slightly, with a tired, if curious expression. "I don't believe we've met before."

Maria nodded, reaching a hand out in a gesture of politeness.

"I've just arrived here myself. I'm Maria," she smiled.

"It's a pleasure. Please, sit if you'd like."

Marian gave her a smile, even if it was weary.

"I'm Marian. Has anyone told you of Milliways yet?"

From a rafter overhead, a woman hangs, and pokes Marian in the head, gently. Her robes defy gravity by staying in place firmly, and she smiles softly down at her friend as she hangs there, a small knife and a thick branch in her hands.

"A greeting unto you, my dear lady."

Marian was almost annoyed at being poked so suddenly in the head, except it evaporated when she found the face of the person doing it. Which earned a rather weary, if constant expression, which was touched by curiosity.

"Why do you have a tree branch, Merlin?"

Her smile was brighter as she looked back at the branch, then shook her head.

"I am pondering making a wand, something to focus my magic with. It is a concept taught me by a young wizard here, and I am unsure if it will work for me or not, but such would not hurt to try!"

She then looked down at Marian.

"And why are you downtrodden this night, milady?"

There was the smallest tug at the edges of her lips, for the enthusiasm that was being shown before her in new things. It was infectious, even if just barely touching her maelstrom.

"It's been a very, very long day, my friend. Both in my world and in this one."
