And this, of course, is when Raven reaches out and attempts to tug Moiraine into the booth he is currently occupying.

It is a very comfortable booth.

"You could have just asked," she points out, even as she resists being tugged.

"Good evening, Raven."

Raven makes a face at her.

It is a very squished kind of face.

"That, I think, would be boring. So."

"And Light forfend that you be bored, is that it?"

She's still resisting, albeit with a faint smile on her face.

Growing increasingly unnerved by the bar's animal population, Coalhouse Walker, Jr. has been exploring the bounds of his new disposition. It's not yet winter out there, but it's a fall with rather more teeth than the species in New Rochelle, so he's dressed in his long leather coat and bowler hat when he enters by the backdoor.

Passing the stairs, he passes her, and he lifts his hat. "Good evening, ma'am." His voice is precise and cultured; to the perceptive, it's also slightly braced.

He is going to be polite, exactly as polite as courtesy dictates, and then they'll see what happens. That's what the voice says.

"Good evening," she replies. Her tone is calm, even serene, and certainly polite, as well.

"I do not believe that I recognize you, do I?"

"I don't believe that you would be likely to," he says, "as I've dwelt here only a short time."

"My name is Coalhouse Walker, Jr." He wears his dignity and pride like a cloak.

"I am pleased to meet you, Master Walker. I am Moiraine Sedai, but you must call me Moiraine. Be welcome to Milliways."

She gestures gracefully at the seat across from her, adding,

"Would you care to join me?"

There's a lion that had been curled up by a chair, napping, until she passes nearby. Cracking open one eye, Jack looks up, sleepily, spotting Moiraine.

"Hi, Moiraine," he says, stretching and yawning.

Dark eyes widen, and Moiraine turns rather swiftly to face him.

"... good evening."

A beat.

"It would appear that you have something of an advantage over me, as I am afraid that I do not recognize you."

Not to mention the inherent oddity of being addressed by a lion.

Well physically, she wouldn't recognise him, though the voice might be familiar.

"Well when the bar isn't playing it's usual tricks, I'm Jack Bauer," he says with a slightly toothy smile.

Upon giving closer attention to the tone of his voice -- and disregarding the fact that it is a lion speaking -- there is indeed something familiar abou tthe tone.

"... Jack."

A pause, and a faint smile.

"Light illumine and protect you, then. I suspect you may need it."

A Man in Black, sitting at the bar, smiles and nods. "Ms. Moraine. And how are you this fine evening?"

"It is K, is it not?" she asks, after a moment's pause for thought to recall.

"I am as well as may be expected, but you must simply call me Moiraine. And yourself?"

"K it is, ma'am. And I'm doing well, thanks for asking."

"I don't get many opportunities for a quiet night in my line of work, so every time that Door over there closes behind me, I can't say I complain about it."

"If your line of work is the sort that brings you into frequent encounters with situations such as that where we first became acquainted," she observes, dryly, "then I am not at all surprised that you might find this place restful."
