It's been Spring Cleaning time at the Reynolds Ranch, and Sallie's got one large box at her feet and a smaller one clutched in her arms as she walks through her pantry into the bar at the end of the 'verse ( Read more... )

Peek!

Kick, who has seen only the word "Gifts" and the boxes, has already begun rummaging through them with a very curious expression.

She has not noticed the woman, however, and perhaps may need some assistance.

"Hello young lady," Sallie offers to the girl going through some of the boxes she brought from home. "Are you interested in somethin' in particular or just curious?"

Very curious, by the way she's tearing through things.

"Curious! There's lots of stuff here - I like stuff."

There's a pause as she examines a book.

"By 2520... d'you mean the year?"

The book Kick's pulled out is So You Want To Build A Hovercraft by William Dao. Sallie smiles at the object -- the spine isn't even creased and the pages are pristine at the edges.

A commentary if there ever was one.

"That'd be correct, little lady -- I'm from the year 2520, soon to be 2521."

He's been looking forward to a rare quiet evening at home (even if Regan's away at a meeting), but it doesn't take him long to realize that if he stays in the house he'll likely spend the night working on any of the number of things that still need his time and attention.

As a result, when Gabriel Tam steps through the Milliways door, he's deliberately left all his files behind, save for those contained on the datapad in his pocket.

There's someone Sallie hasn't seen for a good long while. In person, anyhow.

"Senator Tam," she calls, a bit louder than normal tone over the din that separates them, "Out for a stroll?"

"Mrs. Reynolds, nĭ hăo."

Gabriel's already smiling when he turns to face her.

"Something of the sort, yes. And what are you up to this evening?"

Gesturing to the two boxes at her feet and the sign to one side, "Giveaways of the future. You should poke about in 'em, see if there's anything that might suit you."

Despite her easy tone, Sallie finds this to be highly unlikely.

"Though I can't imagine as you have very much time on your hands for picking up of trifles."

Boromir has been at his post in the brothel, and comes downstairs a bit wearily.

At the sight of Sallie, though, he smiles, and he goes to her table.

"Madame," he says with a gallant bow.

"Boromir," Sallie returns pleasantly enough, if she does sit up a little straighter.

"You been keepin' yourself busy about this place? You look a little stretched today."

"I am indeed," he says with a slight laugh. "Stretched, as you say. May I join you?"

"Certainly. And if you'd like -- "

A finger pointed downward to the boxes of things from home.

"Was doing a little cleaning back at the house and thought some things are too good to not try 'n put to use."

"Hello pretty lady!" Sallie pats the stool next to her by way of invitation. "How's life today in the House? Causin' any trouble?"

"Nooo. I'm being good. What's in the box?"

"Well, a little bit of everything -- I did some spring cleaning at my house, and thought I'd bring over a few choice items for the general population."

Pointing to both of the boxes in front of the blue-haired girl, "Go 'head -- there's holograms and books and such on the left, musical-type things on the right, more books and captures."

Bill's wandering by with a bag of M&M's in his hand heading barwards for a drink when he sees the sign and boxes. He's not in uniform tonight, just a short sleeve shirt and jeans. Tucking his candy into his shirt pocket he smiles at the woman and peeks into the boxes.

"Got anything pretty?" He asks, thinking maybe he can get a gift for a certain someone from close to her own time.

That's...a very very familiar voice.

And Sallie is just staring, the question posed forgotten.

When he doesn't get an answer he looks up from the box and see's the lady staring. He looks at her, turns over his shoulder to see if there's something behind him, then back at her. "Uh...ma'am?"

He's not Malcolm.

A mother knows these things.

But still.

Very calmly: "Who are you and why do you look like my son?"
