It's been Spring Cleaning time at the Reynolds Ranch, and Sallie's got one large box at her feet and a smaller one clutched in her arms as she walks through her pantry into the bar at the end of the 'verse ( Read more... )

Bill's wandering by with a bag of M&M's in his hand heading barwards for a drink when he sees the sign and boxes. He's not in uniform tonight, just a short sleeve shirt and jeans. Tucking his candy into his shirt pocket he smiles at the woman and peeks into the boxes.

"Got anything pretty?" He asks, thinking maybe he can get a gift for a certain someone from close to her own time.

That's...a very very familiar voice.

And Sallie is just staring, the question posed forgotten.

When he doesn't get an answer he looks up from the box and see's the lady staring. He looks at her, turns over his shoulder to see if there's something behind him, then back at her. "Uh...ma'am?"

He's not Malcolm.

A mother knows these things.

But still.

Very calmly: "Who are you and why do you look like my son?"

"Your son? Holy..." He shuts his mouth quickly before the curse gets out and now he is staring at her. "Your Mal's mom?"

Of course she is, Mal's the only one around who looks like him. He smiles nervously, not really sure why he is, not like it's his mom. "Uh, I'm Bill Pardy. Can't really say why we look alike. Just kinda...do."

Sallie's still not coping terribly well with the whole concept that there's a man walking around Milliways that looks so similar to the apple of her eye that they both probably fell from the same tree.

"Wei Bill -- I'm Sallie Reynolds. Forgive my starin', but it's just not every day a mother sees her son wanderin' around when it isn't her son to begin with."

"I'm sorry ma'am." He appologizes, not really sure what else to do.

"I uh, I'm from Earth, 2006 if that helps any?" He offers weakly, rubbing his hands together and sure that it probably doesn't.

"Nothin' to apologize for I suppose, really. Not like you both chose to look like each other for confusing folk."

At the mention of planet and year, "Mal's off on Earth-that-Was at the moment too, but I'm not sure what year. With pirates on water-ships?"

"Yeah, true." He nods, not going to mention how he may have pretended to be Mal a few times. "Milliways is a strange place."

He scratches his head, trying to think and shrugs, "Not really sure when pirates were around, not really all that great in remembering history but it's long before my time. But Mal, he's with the pirates? Is he helpin Jack?"

"So I've been told."

Not personally by her son, a fact which still peeves her.

"Boy doesn't have the first clue about sailing water-ships. At least, so far's I know."

"I don't think it's all that hard, long as he don't fall in." Bill smiles with a little chuckle. He really doesn't know much about ships either. The kind in the water or the sky.

Bill laughs, "Really? I know we got the same face but I don't know if he's got my grace an cat-like reflexes." Bill so totally doesn't have either of those things.

"But yeah, you wanna bet I'll take it." He agrees with another laugh.

"Shiny," Sallie's laughing as well.

She's getting better with the whole doppleganger bit.

"Great, he falls in an I'll buy you a drink or somethin." Bill nods, he likes Mal's mom, reminds him a bit of his own.

[ood: fade is good. Thanks. *G*]
