To a girl locked in a room in a government company building with only crayons and paper to keep her busy, a box of stuff is a blessing. Molly immediately starts to rummaging around, occasionally pulling something out and examining it before putting it back and looking further.
After a few minutes, Molly looks up at Mrs. Reynolds, something that looks like a teddy bear in her hand. "This is okay, right?" she asks. Never hurts to get permission, after all.
The bear itself, if you look closely enough, has a few strategic repairs to arm seams and one ear. The fur (which Sallie always believed to be the most important part) is still fluffy and tan.
