A phone call from my brother Saturday morning brought the sad news that mazzie passed away. She'd been hospitalized for a few weeks after posting somewhat garbled messages to Facebook and Twitter about having had "an incident that resulted in some speech and cognitive issues," and more recently had both liver and kidneys failing. Every once in a while, Facebook notifies me that a friend has posted an item on Marketplace. Usually, it's not something that interests me, but if I interact with it, maybe they'll show it to more people, and my friend's item will sell. I was eligible for vaccines early last winter, and for boosters last fall, and figured out that I was eligible for a fourth dose as of this Monday. Glad to see plenty of availability of both Pfizer and Moderna in the area!

I've gotten to visit Cornerstone a lot in the last month and a half!
Carter seemed to heal beautifully from his hematoma surgery in mid January, but I realized it was recurring last week. Back to visit them today! Dr. Shakespeare gave him a steroid injection and drained his ear. Any remaining blood and internal clotting should resorb, she says. Meantime, his ear canals, which have been infected, look great! Just got a phone call from Aetna... (204.9)
I had reached out to my insurance company last week to see if my coverage would extend to reimbursement of a home blood pressure monitor, which my doctor would like me to use, and I just got a call from a nice lady there. She said she could give me the phone numbers of a couple of vendors who could send me one, OR I could buy one from a pharmacy ( Read more... ) -
I guess I never posted about Carter's surgery! (204.7)
The week before my surgery last month, I noticed Carter's ear had puffed up, and reached out to the vet. They book routine visits weeks ahead, but they're pretty quick when there's a health problem! Making the most of one last day of vacation (207.0)
One of the few real perks of working in higher ed is having Christmas Day through New Year's Day off as paid vacation. (It's not quite universal in higher ed, but pretty close.)
