When did I last see @Mazzie? (205.8)
A phone call from my brother Saturday morning brought the sad news that mazzie passed away. She'd been hospitalized for a few weeks after posting somewhat garbled messages to Facebook and Twitter about having had "an incident that resulted in some speech and cognitive issues," and more recently had both liver and kidneys failing. She'd had a second round of COVID over the winter, which I have to imagine contributed, as I'm sure did the horrible stressors that followed from her husband Junior being carjacked while doing a rideshare trip several weeks ago.
We had been in pretty steady touch via Twitter and Facebook since she stopped posting to LiveJournal about nine years ago, but when did I last see her in person? I'm not sure. I know she visited Ithaca once in a while after moving to the DC area. I know I saw her in DC a couple of times on visits to the area for family Passover gatherings or the Frozen Four. I know I saw her when her mom died -- but that was eleven years ago!
Kim had been largely non-responsive in recent days, but seemed to be hearing visitors and reacting to their presence, and I'm glad she did have visitors. Teej was going to fly out tomorrow for a visit, but is no longer doing that.
Whenever I last saw Kim, it was certainly too long ago. I've seen a couple of questions about GoFundMe or other collections to help Junior with funeral expenses and/or relocating if he needs to, and I'll try to pass along any updates I get.
