We are now home. He grabbed a pain pill and is heading to bed. He'll probably hit the computer for a few minutes before that, but all is well -- well except that whole broke his neck thing. -
Tom update
Chatted with the ICU nurse and there is some doubt of a release today until the scans are reviewed. Other than that the fracture is still stable and the hematoma on the back of his head was not able to be stapled but had quit bleeding. My guess is they have a bandage on that. The nurse indicated "slipped disk" and that is one of the things they are ( Read more... ) -

Tom fell off the ladder today and I had to call 911. It appears he fell from about 10-12 feet and landed on his head or shoulders because there is a fracture in a bone in his neck. The doctor said to fracture that take a lot of force. All is functional, so no spine injury. They took him to CMH in Astoria and then was transported to OSHU in Portland ( Read more... ) -

In nowhere .. er Naselle, WA
After a lengthy drive of 700+ miles that took a little over 12 hours, I made it to Naselle and to Istvan's house. Nice place and very secluded off WA Hwy 4. It was a simple drive I680 to I505 to I5 to WA 4. Going thru the Weeds the previous days snowfall was gorgeous hanging off the redwoods. What have I been up to you ask?
As many of you may know, Tommy has been working on his Virtual Pipe Organ project for a while now. I’ve had a project of my own as well - though not nearly as exciting as his. I’ve been building out a network storage system. It’s using FreeNAS and currently has 12 1Tb 2.5” drives formatted using ZFS. Due to the recoverability of ZFS it takes a lot ( Read more... )
