Bakewell and Whisky
Just got back from a lovely day in Bakewell, everything just clicked together for an ace day, warm weather, fantastic autumnal colours, knowing where stuff is around Bakewell and their being a farmers market on. We've got some nice food and also a bit of a whisky restock to see us through the winter.

Windows Phone 7 development derailment.
Well that seems to be the end of my project to develop a remote app for Squeezebox music devices for WP7. Had some test code working as a windows app, moved it over to WP7 and BAM!, no Sockets!
Seems quite a few people have hit this problem and unless you have a server side proxy to go WCF->TCP you are buggered.
Oh well, on with the next thing. -
Silly cat.
We've two cats, Thomas which is chilled and sensible with age and Rosie that's a bit of a playful loon. Well Rosie learnt (hopefully) that not everything that moves should be pounced upon. TV minefield almost traversed.
Been looking at TVs to replace my 40inch LCD Samsung set because TGG as offered to upgrade it with a 50inch model after seeing you can get the LG 50PK590 at a very reasonable price. Since then I've been ping ponging between the LG and the Panny S20 or G20 models ( Read more... ) -

The Tron Legacy event ( or how to piss people off )
Now you'd think it would be hard to piss off an Imax cinema full of Tron fans, yet Disney's PR team managed to do that through the simple mechanism of over hyping basically a none event. Baking Weekend.
Seems I've got a bit of a baking bug starting, TGG and myself baked cake and cookies over the weekend and now I'm looking at getting a food mixer to make things a bit easier. They do seem a bit pricey but I guess it's worth paying a little more to get something well made that's likely to give years and years of service ( Read more... ) -
