The Tron Legacy event ( or how to piss people off )

Now you'd think it would be hard to piss off an Imax cinema full of Tron fans, yet Disney's PR team managed to do that through the simple mechanism of over hyping basically a none event. It was billed as an "Exclusive preview event" and "Sneak Peek Event" via the viral websites you had to go to. They had been hyping the event for several weeks but we found out about it the night before and still got tickets. So tickets in hand we got to London Imax about 30mins before the 1:30 published start time, there was already a queue of excitable fans waiting, and we waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually at gone 2pm we were let into the theater handed some 3D specs and a rather rubbish Flynn Lives t-shirt. Everyone sat down and a PR person said that we were the first to see this in the world, the lights went down and, they showed the 2 minute trailer that will be shown in cinemas from next week. When the lights went up there was silence, no one could believe that this was all the viral marketing lead to, people filed out of the cinema in almost disbelieving that they'd been duped into this event. We felt pissed off and we'd only needed to make a 30min tube trip, some people had traveled some distance to see it.

As for the trailer, well that I can remember from the 120 seconds of fast edited scenes is expect a lot of Tron Legacy to be like a more computery Matrix with glowing skin suits.
