It's here! It's here! At least in some parts of the world.

Post your initial thoughts about the game in this thread to save the community's top page. :3

If your comment includes game spoilers, please try to use an LJ-SPOILER tag (see this FAQ article on how to use them) to mask them from casual perusal. Want it more likely to be read as we go? ( Read more... )

I'm VPNing home to load my game, so two things.

First: the soundtrack is almost a gigabyte big. 939.19 MB to be exact. That's either a huge number of tracks or some ridiculous high quality bitrates.

Second: Is there any significance to the DSP having a play arrow? I won't need to click on that rather than the usual library entry for MEA to benefit from it ingame?

It would most likely just launch the game normally, but you can ignore it.

If mod attention is needed... tersa March 21 2017, 17:43:03 UTC
I haven't started the game yet, so I'm going to be trying to assiduously avoid uncut spoilers here, even though all the notifications are going to my Inbox. Lalalala.

If you need someone to step in to screen an uncut spoiler, or if someone needs to be thwacked with a ruler, please either DM me via LJ or @mention me on the LJ Discord channel (invite link to the latter is in the Gamer swapmeet comments).

Also, rose_in_shadow, I just made you a Mod and Maintainer, so you can ping her, too. ;) :) :) :)

ooookay.

But, just so you know, I won't look at any spoilers until I've finished the game. lol

I'm newish to console games. Usually a PC MMOer most of the time. So some of the mechanics are whizzing past at amazing speed.

Anyway my question. There are these rectangular boxes with up to 4 box-like symbols above them that are laying around on the ground. I tried looking them up in the codex and believe them to be a supply cache (?) maybe? My question is, how do I access it? I keep hitting the triangle button which I use to interact with other objects and conversations, but it does nothing that I can tell. Does it automatically restore my ammo, health, whatever just by walking up to it?

Totally lost here, but am pushing on. Haven't gotten very far in the story yet due to RL time issues yesterday. The story seems like something I'd usually choose in a book or movie so I'm eager to progress along in the game.

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

Yes, there are two types of boxes. The ones with orange and yellow and the other one with red. The orange and yellow boxes refill your ammo and grenades/mines. The red restores health. If they do anything else, I haven't figured that out.

Edit: Sorry I didn't answer part of your question. Yes, the refill is automatic. If you go to one after a fight, you'll hear it click to reload.

Thanks! I thought that's what is going on.

Doesn't the red one also have a blue icon? I have no idea what that's designating

I agree with almost all of this, and add:

[No story spoilers, funny screenshot]I haven't managed to tip the Nomad over, but I've gotten myself into some pretty "interesting" positions with it. XD

lol!

Yeah, I'm not great at driving the Nomad. Much better now than I was during the trial though. I once got out and tried to jump jet my way to an outpost only to turn out after getting stuck and the vantage allowed me to see the obvious incline where the Nomad was supposed to drive up. *facepalm*

[spoilery]

The Nomad is the new Mako. I did find, though, that turning it into the slower "all-terrain" helped me at least keep from careening as much. It's definitely easier to steer in that mode.

I haven't quite yet managed to get it stuck somewhere I've not been able to stubborn myself out of, but I've gotten close.
