Luckily for them, Carmilla's bike managed to survive a jump off a ledge and plunge into a river. It didn't need a ton of work, so by that evening they were speeding back on their way to New York

Carmilla looked around, "And here is nowhere," she said looking back at Nate before dismounting her bike. It was a good thing it had lived well enough to be repaired.
"And not even the most interesting nowhere I've ever been."
It's been a couple of days since this ugly mope made his way to New Hala alongside a giant green lizard-ape monster. He got the dime tour from Noh-Varr, and he's been spending the rest of the time getting acquainted with the surroundings, and quietly looking around for the man he's here to kill
( ... )
Carmilla was hardly embarrassed, but she was used to situations without a lot of privacy. She gave him a 'yeah you should've' look at the door remark. But she wasn't too upset by the interruption.
He'd see to the new guy, show the new guy the door and then they had a date with a bed.
She wasn't moving from his side as she smiled at the guy who looked like he spent his childhood sleeping on an open grill. Looks weren't everything though, if he was down here, with the way this place was, he had to be okay.
All she said was, "Hey," accented by a little wave.
"Listen, Kreebie! Some crimes are so ugly, the bitch doin' it doesn't get a second chance. This fuckstick gets turned down by a woman who means a damn sight more to me than he'll ever mean to anyone, he decides that don't sit right in his little self-important over-entitled world, so he kidnaps her, telepathically shoves her entire soul into a box, implants his idealized photocopy of his other girlfriend into her brain instead and proceeds to rape her body over and over again for a fucking year!"
The energy sword cut is healed.
"And to answer your question, you sick little piece of ratshit," he starts, breaking into a charge towards Noh-Varr and then, at the last possible second, planting one foot down and vaulting away from him and towards Oubilette.
"I never asked 'em and I never would - "
Planting a foot on the girl's dagger arm to vault past her and lunge at Nate again...
"Because I know I don't deserve it!... faking with a punch to the face, then bringing his boot up right to Nate's crotch, intending to make that kick
( ... )
"NATE!!!" Carmilla cried, aww crap. This wasn't good. This wasn't good at all. She finally got her footing done enough to run in. Clinging to her Not Boyfriend and crying and screaming wouldn't do a damn thing with Grill Face still on a rampage, so Carmilla charged up her arm to full and went for Grill Face instead.
That deep green her fist was? That was pure lethal power packed into a punch.
"Hey, fuckwad... I said Leave. Him. Alone!" she dove right at him.
The light above him was singing to him. It was so warm, so inviting, so comforting. He knew that if he went, he'd know peace forever.
But somewhere below, something kept pulling at him, tugging at him. Something telling him he wasn't finished yet.
In the mad bay, Plex had a number of machines working on Nate. Not that he wanted them to. For all intents, Nate should be dead. There was enough juice in that blade to fry a normal brain a thousand times over. But anyone who ever met Nate would tell you his brain was anything but normal.
Parts of his brain were critically damaged, to the point where machines were breathing for him. But there were other parts of his brain that were lit up like a christmas tree, and simply wouldn't quit. But what were those parts doing?
Fuck Magneto's offer. She only had about six hours left to decide anyway, and she wasn't going anywhere when Nate was here.
Like this.
Not able to breath on his own. Around the machines that worked on him, tried to keep him alive and bring him back, Carmilla found a place to sit, right by him and even managed to hold his hand with both of hers.
"Come on, don't do this," she said, giving his hand a squeeze her voice choked, "You can't let that asshole win. There's... things we haven't done yet. We haven't seen. Damn, I've barely told you anything about me, really..."
Come on, Nate... be okay. Be in there somewhere... it can't end like this.
Carmilla wasn't a psychic, but what she was was a girl in love. Even if she wouldn't admit it to herself, because bad things happened to people she loved.
Hell, this was proof!
"You're better than that asshole," she said, still holding his hand, "How you used to be, you're better than that too. So," her voice hitched and she had to stop for a moment just to calm herself, "So, you're going to be fine, right? You're going to wake up because that damn lightsaber knock off missed your brain. Too small, right?" she said the last with a weak laugh.
"So, you're going to fight this, and you're going to win and we'll test out your bed here and I swear, to anything that might even resemble any sort of force in the universe that I'll stay with you for as long as I can without hurting you. But you gotta wake up. Wake up, Nate."

"This is the most interesting nowhere anywhere on the earth. Name one other nowhere that can do... this."
One of the bricks lit up as he ran his hand over it. That also caused several beams of light to shoot out of the walls and sweep the area.
"You might want to hold still, by the way..."

He didn't recognize the face, which was odd, since he knew everyone in the city by face at least.
"You must be new here, I take it."

Focusing slowly on the figures in front of him.
"Wha... did we win?" he stammers, incoherently.

He didn't sound angry about it either. Just reflective.

Unseen by her, a part of Nate was hovering over her shoulder, staring at his almost lifeless body.
So, you finally remembered me, Natey boy. Always when you're like this. Typical.
...who?
Who else, Nate? The one you trust in times like this. The one you've ignored for the better part of a year.
But... I... I'm--
Not fighting, is what you're doing. You should listen to the girl. Why aren't you? Fight this, you moron.

Please wake up. Please be okay. I love you.
