When I picked Tyler up from school one day last week, he informed me that, when he got older, he wanted to "get pregnant" with a little girl in his class.

Oh man.

Steven has been diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme, or GBM for short. Another name for it is an Anaplastic Astrocytoma Grade IV. The doctors have said to ignore the stats on the Internet because Steven is young and in good health. This can be found in the Rare Disease Handbook. Today was surgery day. Steven and I stayed up late packing and talking. I cried a little and we agreed not to do that and to go into this with a positive attitude. We left the house at 5 a.m. and made it there shortly before 6. We filled out paperwork, and they prepared the surgery site. I was faint and emotional, but Steven was so strong. I ( Read more... )

Steven goes in for surgery next week at Zale Lipshy's. They are going to skip the biopsy, and just remove the tumor. They think that this tumor is aggressive, and that removing it as fast as we can is going to be the best bet. They will biopsy it after they remove it ( Read more... )
