I thought it was pretty good as well, though I still need to read more of it to be as moved as you were :)
However.... was it just me or did anyone else read Jamie's lines and hear Draco (especially DDG-Draco)? I literally squealed in delight when I read it, because that particular character is the main reason I followed Sarah for so long. He's probably not an exact replica, which is good, of course, but there's definitely something... I dunno. Maybe I'm crazy.
Well, I was not moved to tears or anything. Then again, if I were to do that over a first chapter I would suspect hormones and not the author ;o) I just--with the--part of it is I trust SRB to fulfill the promise of these relationships (that Nick and Alan's relationship will be DEVASTATING) and it makes me all wibbly just thinking about it.
Jamie? Mostly I just heard Sarah. Even her not-Draco characters had her flavor of humor. It's not that they all sound the same, but they do...seem to come from the same place. Sort of like a Joss Whedon show.
Alan was beside him, and Nick figured that he could be more or less shielded between the wall and Nick’s body.
Reread that bit about ten times with a wide grin and imagined it in my head, only I don't know what they look like, not yet! So the characters was a sort of cross between Supernatural's Sam and Dean and HP's Remus and Sirius for me. I'm sure it'll change once I get the whole book, though. *can't wait*
The writing is very engaging, so I'm pleased! I NEED THIS BOOK IN MY LIFE ~
"Crack shot," "sensitive," "intellectual," and "bookish" pretty much seal the deal for me on character love. (Well, maybe not sensitive. Sometimes I like insensitive berks.) I fully expected to fall hard for Alan when Sarah was revealing vague things about the book, but no, I find myself being hopelessly charmed by Nick. He's an insensitive berk who cares for his brother deeply and really, it's that gooey marshmallow center that's making me all fluttery. Not that I don't love Alan because I do. (I like a man in glasses
( ... )
Me too! Absolutely! I like all three, but all my favourite lines were his. And I loved that Nick introduced him as James but his sister called him "Jamie".

I don't think Alan is the supreme ruler of my universe, but I do think it highly likely I'm in a way to be very much in love. :o)

I must cryogenically freeze myself until June but cannot work out how! Sad.

I rather thought Jamie was a bit Albus Severus from Coda.. without the puking. But yes.. its Sarah. Can't wait for more
