The kind this Voldemort guy's been using? Or just in general.

More in general.

Hmm... Hard to say. I'm sure you know where I stand when it comes to hurting people.

It is quite apparent how you feel. [It's probably the sole reason certain detectives haven't been cursed to kingdom come by now.] Still, harm isn't always bad. Sometimes you have to, to protect someone, don't you think?

My, how direct.

As long as it can help achieve your goal, it's all right to even use the darker spells? [Absolutely no disapproval in her voice whatsoever.]

Hm, that is how it should be. One shouldn't blame the tool for the user's own faults.

Something to think on before being classified as "bad" or "good," but it certainly has a greater potential harm.

Why?

There seems to be a natural bias in the material of this world. I was curious if that was affecting the students' opinion.

It would be unwise to let your opinions be swayed by those of a world you don't belong to. I have noticed the bias.

People are not always so wise to that. And not many have been exposed to magic to truly understand the spell doesn't decide whether it's used for good or evil.

It would seem this world holds stark ideals of black and white, but I am quite certain that shades of grey would be a much better view.

That's what I think as well. This world's stark views did have me worried, though.

Mm, I am willing to bet that before these bast wars and so called darklords the stigma wasn't as pronounced. I'm also certain some people don't realize that perfectly 'light' spells can be used as efficiently as 'dark' ones when it comes to creative people.

Probably. War has tendency to bring out the worst in people and the cause for my own concern, admittedly. This is the first exposure to some people and it's in a war where they're told to go against the Dark Witches and Wizards.

Of course, any weapon can be abused if you're smart enough.

Well, um. It's what the bad guys use, isn't it? And they don't teach it to us, so it's got to be pretty bad...

But what's stopping a good guy from using dark magic?

Re: voice no1troll November 29 2011, 09:08:15 UTC
I think that it's really hurtful spells, the kind that a good guy wouldn't want to use.

But isn't that a bit too optimistic? Even a hero must fight.

If a villain and a knight were to fight, you'd hardly say that the swords are the source of evil.
