So I had a little bit of an accident this past weekend. I dropped my bassoon, which felt similar to what I imagine killing a small child would be like. After a good cry, I sent Sakakeeny an e-mail and the met with him the next morning. The damage wasn't too serious and totally repairable. So recently the bassoon studio had mock professional auditions. They went the whole nine yards: we had a proctor and the whole process was screened and totally anonymous. The winner of the audition won the principal seat for either Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring or Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade in orchestra next semester ( Read more... )

Do you ever feel like you need to sing really loudly as a release? I suppose some people would just scream, but I don't scream or yell. I much prefer to sing high and loud.

So I've just been informed by a good friend of mine who's back in Seattle of dire news. The choir that I sang in in high school is lacking very many members. The folks who are singing with them are great and super dedicated, but to be a real choir that's taken seriously they need more people. I actually feel like crying because of this. So I've been locked out of my room. I'm very unhappy. It's the third time that this has happened. My room mates leave in the morning and lock the door behind them.
