But you know, I thought Voldemort didn't really care about pure blood. Like, I can buy that he hates Muggles, but not "Mudbloods". I always thought he was too smart for that sort of prejudice, and just used the agenda to win over the pureblood elitists and get minions.
yes, i thought something like this too, but i could totally see him just letting them do whatever they want. he doesn't really value the lives of any of his closest followers, i can't see that being that big a concern for him so long as he has power.
that doesn't really fit in with the way he was talking in the first chapter though, so oh well.

i've never known anyone to hate ron.

"pants" means underpants, no trousers!

they never said hermione's patronus was a sea otter though, did they? there are otters that are regular land mammals, very similar to the weasel>.<
not that i think it would matter for patronuses.

i'm all talked out about remus, i think i'll sit that one out.

Yeah, I guess once he took over he had to let his followers do whatever the heck they wanted in terms of the pureblood stuff.

Oh, there are quite a few Ron haters. Well, I can see where they're coming from based on his more immature moments but meh.

"pants" means trousers in American English!

And well any otter is more flexible in water, right? I'm just wandering about animals who move easier in water than on land.

oh yeah i remember there being complaints about that, but like, that's what makes ron a real person to me, that he's a very human kid and his arc of growing up isn't that far behind harry's. i guess i just understand his insecurities, hating him for it never really occured to me. plus it makes the books like a hundred times less boring ( ... )

Haha you know I think a lot of people who hate Ron are the Hermione/Harry shippers.

But also I find it really ironic how people complain that Jo's good guys are too perfect and stuff, and then turn around and say they hate Tonks for being depressed or Harry for being emo or Ron for being immature or Hermione for being the way she is. It's like, what?

Yeah, I figure Remus just freaked.

oh man the little guy in the ministry made me so sad too! xD awwz D:

Lupin sucks lmfao.

What really surpised me was how fast and completely the purebloods were able to completely take over. That was the only thing that was acutally sort of fanfic feeling to me in DH. I mean, do the wizarding people really not have any control over their government at all? I thought.. I dunno, like government was more integrated w/ pure and non purebloods, but I guess not?? I know elements of JKR's universe are supposed to be exaggerated but the speed at which the ministry went crazy was weird.

Well I figure after they took over (by controlling that new minister and killing scrimgeour) they quickly put DEs in top positions of power and kept people like Umbridge, and then everyone in lower positions (like poor mr. cattlemore and his wife :[) just went along with the management, you know?

I don't think people realized how bad things were, otherwise you wouldn't get so many people actually showing up to the Muggle-born registration things you know? It's like they really thought it was in the name of "science" or just a quick procedure or something.
