I'm going to skip over the part where I discuss and make excuses for how long it's been since I've updated, and go straight into an update. ( My relaxing week on the Mendocino coast )
Sounds like a wonderful vacation! Darn near ideal. You had me at "waves and rainstorms." Heck, you had me at "couch."
My reentry shock has been delayed a day, thanks to a lovely Nor'easter. Maybe I'll do something useful, later in the day, like do some preparations for the oboe portion of my participation in Alan's wedding (practice, make a new reed or two, sort through sheet music). Most likely, I'll laze around and watch Buffy, once I've retrieved my held mail. Ahhh, Netflix - my companion, my nemesis.
B and I once got to stay at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur. We stayed in a room that was the lower half of a house built into the side of the cliff. Basically the entire thing was all windows looking out over the cliff to the ocean. There was an ocean view from every place in there...including the shower. One wall of the shower was glass and was facing out the same way as the rest. I recall that I brought books to read and instead spent the entire time sitting on the deck looking out over the water. At night, there was very little light pollution and we could see every star in the sky. The milky way looked like a white stripe painted through the center of the sky. I'll never forget it.
