Ed sighed and went to lean against the wall of the hangar, glaring balefully at the damn ship things that shouldn't work. He was seething. How dare they treat him like a child? How dare they act as though he knew nothing? He was a scientist! He knew what he was talking about. just because in their world the laws of physics didn't apply
( ... )
He knew that there was a presence near him, his senses on high alert. Eyes snapped open and focused on Ed, sitting there and working on something in his journal. Was the other blonde worried about him? In a way, it pleased him.
"What's wrong, Edward?" asked K, his voice deeper than usual. "Are you scared or soemthing?"
Taunts. He knew they were, and yet they still slipped out from his mouth as easily as he Yuki's harsh words to Shuichi. That was a bit scary...
And yet no matter what, he would not take them back or apologize for them. No. He wanted to see how Ed would react.
Ed jumped when K suddenly spoke. He hadn't realised that the man was awake. His shock turned to annoyance quickly. More taunts? He snorted in disbelief. "No. I told you, I'm not scared of anything."
He shouldn't let himself be goaded into an argument.
He glares at K for a moment and then looked back down at his journal, forcing himself to concentrate on that instead of the piercing blue eyes.
In truth, K doubted that very much. After all, how could a person not be fearful of something. Hell, everyone has fears, even if they didn't want to admit it. So why was Ed being so difficult? Human nature, he supposed. Survival...just knowing one's fears was an advantage...or could lead to downfall.
"What's wrong, Ed? Don't want to talk to me anymore?"
He got onto his knees, moving close so he could whisper in Ed's ear, "I want to talk to you, though..."
Anger was filling his mind, threatening to snap at the two people who had saved him. His hand moved for a second, as if to grab his weapon and shoot at those who had insulted him. What did they know anyway?! They just assumed that he wasn't fighting...?!
Are you really that weak? Were the unspoken words

Ed glared savagely at Claudia. He was not a mindless pawn. Hell, he ignored the military wherever possible. "I destroyed a religion single-handedly," he snarled. "I broke into a military facility and destroyed it. Does that sound like mindless pawn?"
She didn't know anything! DIdn't know what he had had to do to save his brother.
He was readying another barrage of attacks on the woman when K spoke. Ed could onyl stare for a few moments. K wanted them to leave him? Wanted Ed to leave him? He didn't know why, but the thought hurt.
He took a step forward and grabbed K's wrist with his automail. "No. Don't be stupid!" He glared balefully up at the older blond, willing him to see Ed's point. "If you go off on your own, you won't have any reminders or anyone to help you. It's stupid to try something like this on your own." He swallowed thickly. "You need other people. Even I have... had... people. Al and Winry and even the bastard Colonel. You need people."
Claudia frowned, but her attention was brought to K. Whatever was afflicting him, it had lifted as K was definitely thinking more clearly. A little bit. In his condition, the last thing he needed to be was alone. Ed was right about that.
She could have continued arguing with the two, but there were more pressing matters on hand. K's sanity, in particular. Although she would be sure to ask Ed more information about what he said. Indeed, the way he put it, it didn't sound like he was a mere pawn. He sounded more like a threat.
"Ed is right. If you go off alone, the darkness will take you." Claudia had seen proof with her own eyes upon her arrival to Traverse Town. However, her words didn't sound particularly comforting.
The automail was cold, but K had a feeling that if he tried to break from Ed, that arm would hold him in place. What could he say to get it through to them? He knew that it was dangerous in Traverse Town...figured that out pretty easily, in fact, but to be in the same ship all together...?
"It's not that I don't want to be with you both," he said softly. "But if...something happens...if I don't stop myself...I could hurt someone. I...can't think...I can't think what would happen if I would hurt either of you. I can't allow that to happen. I won't allow it to happen. Traverse Town...maybe I could find someone to help me with this...maybe someone else knows here what to do with this Darkness. But if I hurt one of you..."
He probably made no sense. Traverse Town wasn't safe at all, and they probably had a point, but...
He was afraid.
"I don't want either of you to get hurt because of me..."
