So it was decided. He supposed it made the most sense to wait here near the Gummi Ships, hoping that the others would come...some day ( Read more... )

Anger was filling his mind, threatening to snap at the two people who had saved him. His hand moved for a second, as if to grab his weapon and shoot at those who had insulted him. What did they know anyway?! They just assumed that he wasn't fighting...?!

Are you really that weak? Were the unspoken words.

And just with those words echoing his mind, a veil was lifted. What was he doing?! Was he actually going to attack his friends? They were just arguing! It was normal to have disagreements! Sure, he had many arguments...sometimes he had even threatened a bit...but this...he had really thought about harming them...

K's hand dropped to his side. "That's enough," he said. "Enough with pointing fingers and these rude words. We're just hurting each other. This really has gotten out of hand, and it's my fault."

Kissing Ed...he still didn't believe that Ed was completely a child, but his reactions to what had been spoken showed that he was still growing up. Claudia was right in that fact, even if the way she was putting it was a bit harsh.

"You two...need to go on without me, and stop pushing each others' buttons." He grinned, his former self shining through. "I can't be trusted now, not like this. I gotta head off alone. I won't take the chance that the two people who saved me are gonna get hurt because of me. It'll be even worse if we're all together in that small space. Both of you gotta watch each others' back..."

He took a step away from the pair, his heart pounding. He had to find himself again...he had to find the former K. This wasn't like him at all! Judy and Ark would have a fit if they saw him now...

"Just promise to take care. I know...we'll meet again. And if I ever fall completely in the darkness, you two better take me down. So...goodbye for now..."

Ed glared savagely at Claudia. He was not a mindless pawn. Hell, he ignored the military wherever possible. "I destroyed a religion single-handedly," he snarled. "I broke into a military facility and destroyed it. Does that sound like mindless pawn?"

She didn't know anything! DIdn't know what he had had to do to save his brother.

He was readying another barrage of attacks on the woman when K spoke. Ed could onyl stare for a few moments. K wanted them to leave him? Wanted Ed to leave him? He didn't know why, but the thought hurt.

He took a step forward and grabbed K's wrist with his automail. "No. Don't be stupid!" He glared balefully up at the older blond, willing him to see Ed's point. "If you go off on your own, you won't have any reminders or anyone to help you. It's stupid to try something like this on your own." He swallowed thickly. "You need other people. Even I have... had... people. Al and Winry and even the bastard Colonel. You need people."

Destroyed a religion...?

Claudia frowned, but her attention was brought to K. Whatever was afflicting him, it had lifted as K was definitely thinking more clearly. A little bit. In his condition, the last thing he needed to be was alone. Ed was right about that.

She could have continued arguing with the two, but there were more pressing matters on hand. K's sanity, in particular. Although she would be sure to ask Ed more information about what he said. Indeed, the way he put it, it didn't sound like he was a mere pawn. He sounded more like a threat.

"Ed is right. If you go off alone, the darkness will take you." Claudia had seen proof with her own eyes upon her arrival to Traverse Town. However, her words didn't sound particularly comforting.

The automail was cold, but K had a feeling that if he tried to break from Ed, that arm would hold him in place. What could he say to get it through to them? He knew that it was dangerous in Traverse Town...figured that out pretty easily, in fact, but to be in the same ship all together...?

"It's not that I don't want to be with you both," he said softly. "But if...something happens...if I don't stop myself...I could hurt someone. I...can't think...I can't think what would happen if I would hurt either of you. I can't allow that to happen. I won't allow it to happen. Traverse Town...maybe I could find someone to help me with this...maybe someone else knows here what to do with this Darkness. But if I hurt one of you..."

He probably made no sense. Traverse Town wasn't safe at all, and they probably had a point, but...

He was afraid.

"I don't want either of you to get hurt because of me..."

Ed rolled his eyes. "Haven't you been listening to everything we've just said? So you don't want to hurt us. That's great. I don't particularly want to get hurt. But going off by yourself is just a stupid idea."

He narrowed his eyes at K. "If you go off on your own, then you don't have any particular need to fight this. You can just let it swallow you and you won't even be doing it on purpose, you just let it happen. If you stay with us, then you have to face it; you have to fight it actively."

He frowned. "So there," he added as an afterthought.

"Then you must control yourself." Claudia didn't need to say much; Ed's words were good enough. Although she did care about the safety of the others when they were riding on the ship, it seemed that K was more amorous then violent; either way, she could not rest easy knowing she turned away a soul who was wrapped in darkness. That was not God's way.

"I believe we have made our descision. You are not going anywhere without us. At least, I do not think Ed would allow that." She frowned even as she said this, wondering if it was out of concern or out of... well, she would have to question that later.

A genuine smile spread across K's face. How stubborn! They just weren't going to let him go, were they? He supposed not. K realized that if he were in their shoes, he'd react the same way.

His whole body relaxed, and he felt tired again. "All right. I get the point. I'm not goign anywhere. I just hope that this isn't a mistake. And...I hope that if anythign were to happen...if the darkness really did consume me, you guys would destroy me before I hurt anyone." Before they could respond to this, he said, "When are the others supposed to get here? I'm getting tired of this place."

Ed couldn't help but return K's smile. K was staying!

He squeezed the older man's wrist gently before releasing it and stepping away. "Good. And you won'tn hurt anyone because you're not going let it get that far."

Ed sighed and looked towards the door of the hangar. "I don't know." This was depressing. He just wanted to leave and go somewhere... anywhere.

Claudia could not promise K anything. If he did become violent, they might have to destroy him. But it sounded like he was expecting that. If K wanted to live, he was going to have to fight his darkness, just as Ed said.

By now, she had grown weary of Traverse Town as well. It was filled with darkness, so thick the sun never shone through the night. She wanted to stay here no more. There seemed to be no purpose or reason for her to stay, anyway.

There were other worlds to seek.

But first, they had to actually leave.

She was about to volounteer to leave, but considering what was going on last time... Oh, she would not let them out of her sight. Ever again. She was determined to keep these people on the right side of life.

"I was speaking to a man earlier. He was telling me the properties of these gummi ships and what makes them fly. They are very much like airplanes, they have engines and assorted parts that make them fly." She knew K would understand; it seemed like they came from similiar worlds. In fact, it might have been the same one. "But the parts are not made of metal. It is malleable material; called Gummi 'blocks'. That is why they take on strange shapes, but it works, and is apparently more sturdy then metal or any other materials that people have tried to use."

Claudia crossed her arms, waiting to see if her information would appease the others.

"Okay, 'malleable' and 'gummi' makes me think of gummi bears. I don't know if I like the idea of floating around in a giant, edible ship," he chuckled. He was sure that nobody would want to fly in a ship made of such material, but it was still pretty funny to hear the description. It was good to know, though.

"So what's the name of this guy you talked to anyway?"

Gummi bears? Gummi blocks? Ed suddenly felt like they were talking a different language and he didn't like it. Although those Gummi blocks sounded interesting. Maybe he'd get the chance to examine them and find out what they were.

He couldn't help it. Even at times like these, he still wanted to do research.

"Although if it were edible," Ed said absently, "then I could eat it and I wouldn't be hungry anymore." He'd barely eaten in the last few days, and although he was currently alright, adrenaline and his own reserves wouldn't keep him going forever. And his stomach was starting to tell him that it agreed wholeheartedly with the idea of eating a ship.

Claudia did not have an answer to K's question; she didn't bother with names, epescially when the conversation was short lived. He was a mechanic though, she could tell.

"I do not know. He was rather rude and obnoxious and kept chewing on a toothpick like it was a cigarette," She frowned, crossing her arms, though he had been helpful. Even if she would never personally seek him out for information again.

The Gummi blocks did sound like something that could be used as rations, though Claudia never liked Gummi Bears or Worms (indeed, it did seem like she and K were from the side world), not to mention that if it was used for interspace travel, it probably wouldn't be wise to eat.

Still...

"I hope the others had the forethought to bring supplies. Perhaps one of us should anyway, since we will most likely go seperate ways with them once we reach the coliseum," Claudia thought, mostly to herself, but she waited for confirmation from Ed and K.

"Possibly, and possibly not," said K. "I mean, they might have the foresight to bring some extra supplies, or they might just assume that we'll bring our own."

He shrugged. Probably the Coliseum would have supplies as well, but there was no guarentee of that. They didn't even know anything about the place, so they might be surprised.

Surprises weren't always good...

"I'm guessing that you guys aren't going to let me go by myself," said K, irritation seeping into his voice. "If we all go, then maybe the others will just assume we changed our minds and go without us. Probably someone should stay here, right? So...if someone goes, who is it gonna be?"

Supplies might be a good idea. Ed hated the idea of being stuck anywhere without food. It was just too horrible to contemplate. He was so hungry.

He looked up at K sharply, hearing the annoyance in the older man's voice. "No. It wouldn't be a good idea for us all to go," he began. "I can go with you, or stay here. Whatever."

Claudia sensed opportunity.

"K and I can go," She suggested, although she had things other then merely picking up supplies in mind for this excursion. She knew that Ed would have been the best logical choice for K, since the boy could tame K's darkness, but Claudia had to step in for the moment. Dealing with evil, be it darkness or demons, was one of the requirements of those who wanted to serve God.

"K, I believe, has some mon... munny, and I know what we should buy. Not to mention that Ed was the one who contacted Yuna to begin with, if my memory serves me correctly, so she probably would want to speak with you once she and her party returns."

K turned to face Ed, looking him in the eyes. "Be careful, and don't let your guard down. We saw that the Heartless can attack anywhere, even in the First District..."

He took some munny out and put it in Ed's hand. "Just in case."

Now, he looked at Claudia, and said, "So, I guess we should go." With that, K made his way out of the hanger, and hoped that they would reunite soon.
