Le sigh.

Dang it, my problems with alcohol intolerance continue. :( Although last night was, I guess, my best experience with vodka. I had about 2.5 shots of vanilla vodka in creme soda, and it was tasty and delicious and I couldn't even tell I was drinking anything alcoholic. (Well, until I started to get very warm, and awfully goofy.) I had my two ( Read more... )

You know what this means, you're getting a tolerance! If you just keep drinking in moderate amounts, you'll slowly build yourself up. I mean, don't become an alcoholic of course, but it's good that the more you drink the more tolerance you have.
Do your legs ever get warm after you've had a bit to drink? That always freaks me out lol.

I hope so! I want to get where I can have a few drinks without having to worry about getting sick afterwards.

My legs don't get warm, but my head radiates heat like a small star. It was freaking Ben out like crazy last night, haha.

Eep! I wish warmth weren't a side effect of drinking. It really bothers me when my legs get all warm.

Did you burn a hole in Ben's shirt, resting your head on his shoulder?

Oh, it doesn't bother me. Mostly it's just amusing. Ben couldn't stop marveling at how warm I felt, though. And it came in waves -- I'd cool off and a few minutes later, my head would be glowing warm again. He kept telling his friends how crazy it was, lol.

This happens with all kinds of alcohol? You aren't drinking that low carb stuff are you?

Have you tried drinking something not so hard, like beer or those Mikes lemonade? Maybe that would be easier on your stomach, and once you're used to that you could move to the harder stuff.

No, it isn't all alcohol. The liqueors -- stuff like Bailey's and Kahlua -- don't bother me at all (except that one time when I had some wine and then had a bunch of Bailey's). But two shots of Bailey's no longer gets me tipsy, so I'd have to drink a lot of it to get the same effect. I had most of a margarita one time and was fine. The trouble with Mike's and flavored beers is that they're all fruity, and I'm really reluctant to try fruity things. But maybe that kind of stuff would be different enough from Bailey's that it would still give me a nice little buzz, but would have a low enough alcohol content so as not to freak out my stomach.

If you can handle the fruitiness, I'd recommend trying Mike's or possibly Bacardi Twisted V. They both have roughly the same alcohol content as a beer, only they're not beer, and are in fact Mighty Tasty. You would have to be able to handle the fruit, though :P

You'll hate to hear this... but maybe your stomach would be doing slightly better if you weren't so averse to wating fruit. Ah well, I know it wouldn't change my mind if tasting mustard could help me in any way.

I saw you mention not liking fruity beers... Are you avoiding drinking good beer? (I mean high carb beer) because Porter is nice. You could always smoke if you don't want to upset your body. There are few unpleasant side affects there.

I'm sure it'll freak you out to hear from me, Gina, but I have to agree with this! Splurge a little and try some good beer.

The only beer I've ever had was absolutely disgusting... maybe it's just that I haven't had the right stuff? I don't know, though, it always smells *awful.*

Heh, yeah, it is a bit surprising to hear from you on this topic :) Then again if your parents drank, from what you say I'm sure they'd drink the really good stuff, so that might be why you'd know.

My dad is a huge beer snob! XD He's very big on local beers, which is probably smart since they're (I imagine) more likely to be made in smaller batches than big commerical beers and there's probably more care taken in the whole brewing process. I don't have any to specifically recommend, but you can always ask at the liquor store.

Seriously, I have friends who are like LOL PBR! PBR! MILLER LITE! ANYTHING CHEEP! and that's just ... no. Yuck. If you're going to drink beer, at least drink some that tastes all right. Blech.
