Nick gets falsely accused for a murder he did not commit and David is desperate not to see his Deputy convicted and will do anything he can to make sure he isn't.

"In breaking news, it is now being confirmed that there has been a suspicious death inside of Ten Downing Street. The victim's name has not been released, nor has any identifying information. Police are investigating and hope to have a suspect in custody in the following days.
Though no information is being released on the victim or any suspects, it has been said that the victim was not part of the cabinet, nor an MP.
This leads our investigative team to believe a civil servant or a political aide is the deceased.
More later when this story develops."
The first time the police made their way through Downing Street, they were just questioning everyone to try and figure out what had happened there. All David knew was that he'd been coming downstairs for his morning run at about six am when he heard the screams of terror. Apparently they had just found her. Lying there, dead and in a pool of her own blood

Nick Clegg has now been taken in for a second time, according to sources. Some suspect this might have been for an official arrest, but no information has been released yet.
Speculation has been made about Clegg's involvement in this incident based on rumours that he had been the last one seen with the victim and had been arguing aggressively with her.
All facts seem to indicate that this is now an official murder investigation, but no details have been released.

When they arrested Nick, he had been just outside his house. There had been cameras, but the police had been discreet and no one had realised what had happened until the police car was long gone, Nick Clegg with it

David had made the decision to make a statement to the house. He needed to be sure that Nick wouldn't be falsely convicted for something he didn't do. If all went well, then Nick would be released soon and the police would focus on someone else. So David began his emergency statement to the house, gaining confidence as he calmly delivered the short statement he had prepared before he took questions from the House on the topic. When the questions started, David breathed a sigh of relief

“Last but not least, Dennis Skinner.” Bercow chirped, seemingly pleasant but probably just curious to see what the veteran MP was going to say.
David fought the urge to groan as the Beast of Bolsover got to his feet and started to wag his finger at the government bench. “Is the Prime Minister aware that by being vague with answering our questions that it makes this so called private and personal business that he and the Deputy Prime Minister engaged in look more shifty? Dodgy Dave and his Bullingdon bullies getting away with murder. By not being open and honest with the House, doesn’t it just go to show that there is one rule for the posh boys and another for us?”
The Labour benches erupted again in raucous noise and David’s good will snapped. He was only vaguely aware of Bercow screeching “Order!” at the top of his lungs.
David only saw red when he stood up and in a controlled shout, very bluntly told the House that, "The Deputy Prime Minister and I are not getting any benefits which put us above the law in any way whatsoever!"

AA I need to compliment you. This scene in the House was very realistic and I should know - I once sat in the Gallery! I love how you have weaved real-life issues into there and I really like your choice of people asking questions.
But the ending of this chapter - OMFG! I will be F555555ing for the forseeable future since I really want to see the aftermath of this. George's reaction spoke volumes and I want to know what Sam and Nick think!

Lots of excitement this chapter!
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with George and Dave. And I can't wait to see the fallout that David's lie causes with Nick, Sam, and Miriam.

"Turn around, Clegg," The police constable ordered, and Nick did as he was told. He was very confused as to why he was being released from the cuffs that he had been in every time he was out of the holding cell he'd been in for the past day. Perhaps, he thought, this meant that Miriam had bailed him out

Nick was very lost and about a second away from calling David himself and demanding to ask what was going on when someone banged on the bathroom door

"Miriam is going to kill me," Nick whimpered finally after a long silence. He'd eventually moved to sit on one of the chairs by the sofa, but hadn't been able to wrap his mind around everything that was happening so fast. Nick frowned, "If she thinks we've... we've been having an affair and I've been keeping it from her. I have to tell her first thing!"
"W- wait," David stammered, eyes wide, "should we really tell our wives it was just a lie to keep you out of jail? I mean... we've basically committed perjury. It was... for a good cause, they weren't going to look for anyone else as long as they had you nicked for it, but we've now risked our careers and jail time for something else just to set you free now."
Nick bit his bottom lip in anger, "We didn't do anything, David. You did it all on your own

"I have to admit," Nick shrugged, "that's pretty much the only convincing thing you could have said, though. And at that point if you confessed we weren't actually together, you'd already lied and probably would have the entire House of Commons demanding you be arrested."
"So my panic was logical," David snorted, "at least there's that. I'm so sorry about this, Nick. I know I've made things more complicated."
Nick shook his head, "You have nothing to apologise for, David. The way I see it, you've basically saved my bum from prison and and single handedly kicked off the search for a real murderer
