I cannot believe that anyone could think that we could just go without the Bayern players. They've played 2 CL finals in 3 seasons. Of course they haven't won, but reaching the final is still better than going out in the group stages or the first knock-out round or something ( ... )

I completely agree with you. I'm trying not to be too bitter about the loss because I know Loew was experimenting to see who can plan where. It was definitely a test to see who will play opposite of Lahm in the fullback position. I wish Schmelzer had made the step up, but he left a lot to be desired, because I think that Lahm is much better on the right and he's been playing there for a while and making the switch back to left would be hard for him. When he switched back for Bayern back at the beginning of the season, it took him a few games to get back into the swing of things and he did a few crazy moves so he could have the ball on his right foot ( ... )

Was the average really only 24?

That's quite amazing, you know!

I heartily agree with all of this!

One could argue Bayern was the better side last week too. Chelsea had God on their side, as far as I'm concerned.

Our wing-back problem is a problem!

I think this was the best possible game for the lads and the best possible result.

I'd have sent Goetze home instead of Cacau - I have to honest. Brilliant as he is he doesn't look healthy enough to go. Some good ideas but no legs. I'd play Kroos as a number 10 before I choose him though.

But Jogi has made his choice.

On the other hand - you are quite right!

This optimism is un-German. Going back to moaning about the team seems more in character and more comfortable over-all.

Wow, sending Götze home would have been a really bold move from Jogi. I'm sure he had his reasons from watching him in training to let him stay instead of Cacau. He must have been better there than in the Switzerland game. Maybe he'll surprise us and be the shooting star of the tournament. You never know.

But on the other hand I can see where you come from - taking Klose, Mertesacker and Schweinsteiger after their long injury breaks is one thing because of their experience and indispensability, but Götze really hasn't shown much in the NT yet and, like Draxler and ter Stegen, is certainly someone for 2014 and 2016, so why take him if he isn't at 100%? And why do we need another 10 anyway if we have the best one in the world right now ;)?

It would have been bold indeed! Which is why he didn't do it!

Not one for controversy, our Jogi. Nearly ever controversy he's ever been involved with has developed from his avoidance of controversy (Re: Ballack affair).
