Brace yourselves. Tough one to watch. Tough one to rewatch. Even tougher to process... and damn near impossible to write down, so I ended up using close to 6,000 words. This goddamn show. *sobs*
I must have watched bits and pieces of this episode a dozent times since it aired. I just can't seem to get enough of the angsty deliciousness.
Thank you (again) for these reviews as you always seem to hit on something I missed or are able to give some insight into something I did see, but didn't quite understand (like the car analogy).
I waffle back and forth on the finale next week - I am excited - I am dreading it. I love the pain - I hate the pain.
I am not quite sure how the Gibbs angle is going to play out - I have several very divergent ideas colliding around in my brain and I am not sure we will get any resolution on the T/Z "brokeness" -
Awesome stuff in here. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Awesome screencaps of an awesome episode, and more importantly some really awesome insights into states of mind and dialog choices. I especially loved the tidbits about the movie Michael Fassbender was in. I hadn't thought twice about that line other than originally thinking, "Hey, I guess he's a pop culture thing now! That's cool." I had no idea about the movie you referenced, but now it makes me want to watch it
( ... )
I just want to say, the one line that absolutely ripped my heart out was right after Parsons left T&Z alone in the interrogation room. Tony looks absolutely gutpunched. He cannot look at her, just cannot. He reaches down and pushes the photograph, and says, "So..." and that's when I lose it.
eta: Some tumblr folks made a big deal about his barging in to end the interview, because he was defending her. Honestly I don't think that was it at all. I think he barged in because HE could not bear to hear more about Adam. Ziva was clearly perfectly capable of handling the interview. She was not in any kind of distress. HE was in distress. and Parsons immediately added 2+2 and tossed in the boyfriend comment to hurt both Ziva and Tony.
also, NO ONE has said this, but god damn, I loved seeing tough as balls Ziva in that interview. She brought out the arrogance and even the same accent that she had in Season 3.
ah yes, the World Vs. Gibbs. *yawn* he is such small potatoes. I really hoped Parsons would go after Vance, because he is the one who actually deserves it. However, World vs. Gibbs is good news for fans. It means we have nothing to worry about.
All I wish is that it doesn't take another 4 years for them to grow close again; with all the CIRays and EJs and Wendys and Danas and Brenda Bitners having to cross their paths
Once again you have given a wonderful, insightful and heartfelt review and I thank you.
