Brace yourselves. Tough one to watch. Tough one to rewatch. Even tougher to process... and damn near impossible to write down, so I ended up using close to 6,000 words. This goddamn show. *sobs*
okay, now that I have my pesky laundry folded I can share some more thoughts.
I really loved this episode and though my heart was ripped out by Ziva's actions (or more accurately Tony's reactions to her actions) it is one of the best T/Z shipper episodes we have been given in a long time - even more so than Berlin. This episode got the emotions out upfront and in your face and I don't think anyone can deny (even the hardlined antis) that Tony sees Ziva as something more than a partner or friend as his reaction to the Adam reveal wouldn't have been so visceral.
My deepest fear about the finale is that all this delcious angst between the two will be swept under the rug just like so much other "potential" in the past (though this season has been much better in that regard).
I am praying with all my fangirl might that GG takes this and runs with it (I think he will) and that season 11 will see a relationship come into full bloom.
As for the Gibbs thing - I agree - even if he or the team gets the axe - it will be shortlived - the masses tune in week after week for the crime drama procedural and you can't have that without the leader or the team. It might take a few weeks but that part of the show will return to normal pretty darn quick as those fans who watch every week but couldn't tell you what happened last season finale won't sit still for much disruption in that regard.
I just want to say, the one line that absolutely ripped my heart out was right after Parsons left T&Z alone in the interrogation room. Tony looks absolutely gutpunched. He cannot look at her, just cannot. He reaches down and pushes the photograph, and says, "So..." and that's when I lose it.
eta: Some tumblr folks made a big deal about his barging in to end the interview, because he was defending her. Honestly I don't think that was it at all. I think he barged in because HE could not bear to hear more about Adam. Ziva was clearly perfectly capable of handling the interview. She was not in any kind of distress. HE was in distress. and Parsons immediately added 2+2 and tossed in the boyfriend comment to hurt both Ziva and Tony.
also, NO ONE has said this, but god damn, I loved seeing tough as balls Ziva in that interview. She brought out the arrogance and even the same accent that she had in Season 3.

Strap in girl - it's gonna be a long hiatus.
