Episode Review: 7x01 - Truth and Consequences

Sep 29, 2009 11:20

There are many things I should be doing right now, including writing up my learning journal from last week's uni class, and also general work, seeing as how I am in the office and all.

But, NCIS is on in America tonight, and I really should put down some thoughts about the premiere of a week ago because otherwise I'll get all wrapped up in the ( Read more... )

LOL - my boss doesn't give me enough to do! ;-)

Seriously, MW = made of too much awesome. I rarely get quite so ridiculously flaily over a character I love.

S3 was my favourite regarding Tony/Ziva flirting, I loved Boxed In and loads of their interactions. I don't mind their relationship on screen being shown as slightly incestuous siblings, but no more than that please. The rest should be up to us.

They totally did feel more like partners, which I love! It's the ideal team dynamic, I think, having Tony still be 2IC but showing that Gibbs trusts him enough to let him handle the big stuff too. And have Tony be good at it. And while I'm demanding things from NCIS, they could have a nice Tony and Gibbs solve a crime as partners episode. Their interaction is one of the strengths of the show, they should exploit it!

I really should not be giving out fashion tips, as I'm sitting here in the loudest PJs ever and a giant hoodie, but double denim is a no-no! ;-)

I know, I'm just greedy and lazy so demand fic from others! But, I would like ( ... )

Being busy at work is highly overrated. There should be time set aside to squee over telly & fic. There'd be much happier staff :-)

a nice Tony and Gibbs solve a crime as partners episode

God yes. The JAG eps were more on these lines than anything since. More Tony-with-a-brain stuff would be very nice.

Hee! There is no excuse for double denim. Ever.

Heh, at least you also write! I'm just a greedy fic whore :-) *is intrigued* I've not watched any trailers for this season so far. It won't last, but I'm trying to be sort of unspoiled. Well. Not actually as the first thing I do in the morning is read the TWOP board. And at some point in the day read an ep recap (usually when the boss nips out for a fag!)

I think maybe we should take this idea to the government, get a new Act passed! ;-)

They've had ace moments, definitely, but the other night I was just thinking about how cool it would be if the show had been a buddy cop thing between the two of them! I love the rest of the cast and characters, but the two of them have great chemistry, whether it's slashy or mentory! I'd love a good, dark case fic episode where the two of them go off and do most of the investigating together! I love the JAG eps for those two.

I'm seriously impressed with your willpower. I've been in the office for 45 minutes and I have already trawled livejournal, TWOP, and all news articles I could find. I'm hopeless at even trying to stay unspoiled, even though I know I'd get more out of it that way. I'll make an effort next week. Possibly. ;-)

I'll start lobbying straight away *g*

I think the new show is going more down the buddy cop line, which makes me sad because yes, that would be awesome with Gibbs & Tony. I loved the JAG eps for many reasons, but especially the Gibbs/Tony interaction.

Heh, I'd read TWOP & LJ before going to work though didn't actually get chance to read anything at work (how rude!). I'm certainly not unspoiled for eps, but I'm going to try & avoid watching trailers for the exact reason you mentioned - getting more out of it. I've usually watched every little last bit of footage available before the ep & I think it takes away some of the enjoyment. How long my will power lasts is another thing :-)

I'm not going to get round to 7x02 till tomorrow night as I'm so far behind with stuff right now. I go away on Saturday for a few day & really must check the state of my wardrobe before then! And also find my passport...

I have to admit I haven't actually watched NCIS:LA yet, mostly because I always prioritise NCIS itself when I'm downloading, and my computer isn't terribly fast. But it does look buddy-cop-esque.

There are still some good moments now in the show between them, but I'd like some really good partners moments.

I was going to attempt to go unspoiled for next week, btu I have already failed in that. But I won't spoil you for Reunion when you see it tonight, only to say that from my very Tony and MW-centric view, it was very satisfying! ;-)

Getting ready to go on holiday always seems like a bit of a pain, but it's usually worth it for the holiday itself - have a lovely time and I hope you track down your passport - I hear they're useful when travelling.

I liked your review, especially since it was so centered on Tony (my absolute fav character) :D

I don't really have much to say other than I wanted to comment on the Tony/Ziva stuff. I resisted the fandom aspect of everything at first (because I get sucked in and forget what's canon/fanon), and when I started I was Tony/Ziva (but have since decided my OTP is Tony/Gibbs), but my biggest problem? I could never think of a realistic way to actually get them together in canon. I mean, I think they'd made a decent couple, and would totally be hot together, but I can't think of a way to get them to couple status that isn't compromising one of their characters or just plain stupid. I could see them having sex in canon, but I can't see it actually moving to a relationship.

Tony and Gibbs on the other hand...

And MW was full of win this episode. So full of win. I was so excited that he *was* the episode. Though I hated his "No. We have a duty to find Ziva" thing because it just didn't feel real to me.

Hee! Sometimes I feel slightly guilty when I'm watching, because I always kind of forget to look at everyone else except Tony, but then, it's not my fault he's ridiculously attractive and always seems to be doing something interesting and very watchable on screen - even in the scenes he's in the background of! I'm going to add screencaps to this post later this week - possibly the weekend now, actually, so there might be something to look at other than just my ramblings and witterings ( ... )

I've given up on feeling guilty, though I watch for both Tony and Gibbs and kind of ignore everyone else a little. Not too much, but a little. But you're right, MW is awesome as Tony even in the background of scenes! It's the little things, but they're fantastic.

I've never really disliked Ziva, either, except I was getting frustrated with her at the end of S6. That said, I do generally like their interactions and their flirting (I loved them in Cloak/Dagger! Well, mostly I loved Tony, but Ziva was good, too). But I think I'd have to agree with you - if it has to happen I don't want to see it onscreen. And, like I said, I'm against it happening because I don't think it would be realistic.

As for the reasons for Tony/Gibbs...I'm sure mine would take up several comments, too. But god yes they're hot and amazing and make me giggle like a little girl.

I haven't seen Reunion yet, though I taped it (hopefully will be able to watch it tonight!), but now I'm super-excited to see more MW ( ... )

I totally do the same thing. It's partly for shallow reasons, but they're also very interesting characters!

I loved Cloak/Dagger! But I think my favourite Tony/Ziva moment is actually right at the start of Boxed In when Ziva holds her hand up to stop Tony, and he stills instantly but was gesticulating, so they end up kind of holding hands, frozen in place, and it's all very semi-professional but semi-OMG, we're holding hands! I love that moment.

Oooh, I hope you enjoy it! I really did!

Back I go to mooning slaving over Tony-gazing. ;-)

LOVE the picspam AND the commentary!

And I'm so glad you mentioned Kate. Because she really did come to mind during his little speech there.

It's hard not to love his ridiculously pretty face! ;-) Thank you!

I thought she did, too, because although Ziva is Ziva and I love her, she was, originally, Kate's replacement. And I love any mention they make of Kate, especially the way they did it in Bait. When he said "We lost her", I think he was talking about Ziva primarily, but with Kate very much in mind. :-)

Heh. Very entertaining - both commentary and pics.

About the vengeance thing... In a way, I think Saleem (or Salim, however you spell it) became Tony's Ari. That is, he was something Tony fixated on as someone he could hurt for ALL of the people he's lost. There's never really been anyone he could blame before - everyone else has either been killed by Gibbs or... whatever.

Like in Cloak/Dagger with the elevator blow up scene (mmm, angry Tony...), it was the last straw for him to find out about the fake secret mission - resulting in him blowing up about something I think he'd been stewing over for awhile.

Back in the very early seasons (or the seasons of the brown shoulder holster rather than the black, lol) everyone warned Gibbs about going after Ari so doggedly too, so maybe it was the writers way of showing that Tony had now come almost full circle. After all, they're always hitting us with 'he's so much like Gibbs' anvils.

Hmm. Does any of this even make sense?

Thank you! :-) I just checked on IMDB and it looks like I've been spelling it wrong, he is listed as "Saleem" - put it down to my typing laziness ( ... )
