Setting Up a Keyboard for Hindi in Windows Me

Nov 09, 2005 15:56

Does anyone know how to set up a Windows keyboard to type Hindi? I have mine set up to type Greek and Hebrew and I can switch between keyboard layouts quickly, but when I try to set up for Hindi, I do not see it anywhere in the list. Is it available from Microsoft?

hindi, sanskrit, computers

I've got it in my list. I've downloaded both the language pack for support of right-to-left languages and the one for CJK. I wouldn't think this would make a difference for Hindi, but you never know with M$. Oh, and I've got Unicode fonts loaded.

What choices do you see in the alphabetic list where "Hindi" should appear? Mine goes "..., Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, ...".

Mine just goes, "...Hebrew, Hungarian,..."

Can you download language packs directly from MS for free?

Yep, but you may have trouble finding ones that work for Me. According to this page, Hindi isn't supported for Me and the new Global IME requires Office XP to function correctly. (I tried downloading it on my sister's computer and couldn't get it to work.)
