Finally got round to watching 'The Dark Knight Rises'. What the fuck Nolan?

Lovely cinematography, great acting from the minor characters, total lack of sense in respect of the plot. And I'm only an hour or so in. My thought is now: 'No wonder Ina walked out.'

Saw this movie on DVD. Stunning cast, all having fun. Plot - what there is of it - makes no sense. clichés all over the place and fails the Bechdel test big time -- and also includes one woman giving another the shovel speech, which I thought was something that only happened in fan fiction. Me: Great movie, but it could have done with 20 to 25 minutes cut out.
Ina: Yes. They will not kill their babies nowadays, will they?
Me: And you haven't even seen The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Ina: Yeah. On purpose.

Watching Django Unchained. This is a great movie. It's exciting and funny and shocking and historically more accurate than most movies about this period, and the cinematography is gorgeous. The score, as always with Tarantino, is wonderfully apt ( Read more... )
