OMG you are SO one to be begging for more! I die for this all day, waiting for the next chapter. I just adore your dialogue between them, you have such a light touch to their humor and 'male bonding'.

I enjoy Sam still being a smart ass, even as he dissolves, and I love Gene's perceptions of Sam and his team as a whole. I'm pleased that Ray took the initiative to bring in the suspect, and I love the grudging respect Gene is developing for Annie. And Sam having to eat the treacle first...conivving little twerp, Gene sees right through that! Says so much about Sam's personality, though, his need to logically justify something he just simply wants.

And of course, I'm biting my nails and hopping about the room and cursing you because I want the next installment NOW! wah!

Everyone has that one thing that makes them feel like a kid again. I think for Sam it would be treacle. I don't know why. Probably just because 1.04 is my favorite episode.

I don't even know what to add. I'm looking forward to this as much as I looked forward to "Steady". I like how everyone shushed when they walked into the bullpen as they all finally saw the truth of Sam's condition.

The three officers were speechless as they watched DI Tyler slowly spoon more treacle and custard into his mouth but Sam was watching them right back, and so rolled his eyes, and set down the spoon.

“Yes. I’m dying. Clearly, I’m not dead yet, an act we can stop from happening if you focus on doing your jobs. You’re all detectives. You can all figure this out, if you work at it. Even Ray.”

“What did you find?” Sam asked after a bite of treacle, which he had to eat first, he swore, so that it wouldn’t get cold.
This is probably my favorite line in the fic so far, for three reasons:
1. Sam being capable of such childishness as wanting to eat his cake first.
2. Gene actually caring whether Sam eats his cake before or after he's had some proper food.
3. Gene letting Sam think he could have the cake first due to perfectly logical reasoning, when it's really just Gene humoring him because he cares and Sam is dying, and he can't deny him cake if he's dying. *has flashback to Eddie Izzard and "cake or death?"*

I love that Chris and Ray did something right for once, and that they cared enough to do this properly, even if they were told it probably was a hoax. Makes you realize that they might actually care about Sam.

You're still making me sad, and still make me want to feel even sadder, as long as I get a happy ending. (A happy ending does *not* include character death!)

Okay, that made me sporfle! I desperately need that on a t-shirt or an icon or something. I may have to include it in another fic, and give you credit of course. I don't know why. It just makes me laugh.

Oh, you'll get sadder. But I think I should research these "happy ending" things...
