I've started tumbling a load of carnelian stones. There are four (five if you want to) stages to go through, and so far one stage has been completed. Here's a pic of the rocks before I started tumbling, and a pic after the first stage.

Um, this will be interesting, the first time I've posted images since LJ reorganized Scrapbook. Some of the changes I really like, some are extremely annoying -- I can't figure out how to re-order the images in the gallery, for instance, so these pics are out of order. I'm mostly nocturnal, and on Thursday was rudely awakened in the early afternoon by all the UPSs and the carbon monoxide detector going nuts. An hour-long power outage. Friday was the first day of the UW gem show, and it was pretty good. Stan realized the other day that we're seriously in debt (mostly thanks to those kittens' bills) so I couldn't spend much :> Anyway, I sat at the club table and pimped the club and gave out rocks, looked at stuff, and panned for real gold flakes in a small plastic kiddie pool. The kittens have been out of quarantine for a week now, and are generally doing pretty well (somebody had diarrhea today and I don't know who, although Lisa is the suspect).

However, on Sunday the weather was so beautiful that we decided to check out Oktoberfest in downtown Kitchener for lulz -- it's right in town, it's every year, but we haven't gone in over a decade.
