Quick news update: Bought 4 ducks and now I'm building a duck pond and pen. The coop is done and the run needs the chicken wire but is otherwise done. We lost one more chicken to the dogs today. We have 2 left and I'll go get 3 chicks when they come in to the Big R tomorrow. I'll post photos of the progress tomorrow ( Read more... ) -
Jams and Jellies!!
I had bought one of those giant bags of oranges at the supermarket a few weeks ago and I shoved the oranges in the pantry. Well I opened the pantry last night and to my horror, they hadn't been eaten at all! Almost all the oranges I had purchased were still there! Planting Schedule
My schedule is planting on the weekends. So I'll just number the Sunday's I have in the month and their corresponding plants.

I'm sorry I haven't been writing for a while. The past month and a half my husband has been away at school and I've been doing everything alone, leaves very little time for blogging. But that doesn't mean i haven't been "farming".

It's winter!
The water I put out for the chickens freezes regularly in the shade during the day and we've had it snow a few times. Nothing to write home about but definitely enough to stick for a day. The chickens have survived some seriously cold weather. So I'm thinking they'll be fine all winter. Winter also means everything slows down. My garden is on hold ( Read more... ) -
A week inside.
I haven't said anything lately because I've been finishing the inside, not the outside of the house. We painted the living room and the downstairs area. I also spent a few good days organizing, shoping and finding peices for the living room to finish it off ( Read more... ) -
To Lowes and Back
When I originally started this journey, i didn't have money to spend. Almost at all, so I bought the cheapest kind of chicken fence i could get my hands on, which turned out to be this terribly hard to handle plastic stuff. New days
I was getting ready to leave the house to go to my friends for dinner and I was running late. Making a 19 month old take a shower with you and get dressed can do that...
