Can someone explain to me the deal with Buffy's constant scarf-y shirts and accessories? In every episode she's wearing either a scarf or a shirt with a hangy piece of fabric thingy down the side.

Watching the beginning of Willow/Oz makes me cry. Phases is an underrated episode.
