I'm finally back in college, by the way. Here's the short version:

• At a local community college,
• Paying for it with grants and loans that mean that the out-of-pocket cost is zero,
• On track for three for-serious certifications (RHCE, CCNA, MCSE/MCITP-Server-2008), and a passel of lesser ones (misc CompTIA/MCP stuff).

Today I checked out books from the library. They still have circulation cards in the back, although they're just used to remind you when the due date is. Since the move, I've been spending a fair bit of time in the garden. It's one of the things that I'm fairly enthusiastic about, but not actually good at. Today's fun fact: did you know that Viggo Mortensen started as a bard, then multiclassed into ranger? Obviously the latter is better-remembered because it worked out pretty well for him (kingship is a nice gig if you can get it), but his poetic work is also pretty decent. This, too, is from the The Spoken Word Revolution anthology.

I dropped by my folks' place for dinner on Memorial Day. It was pretty awesome. When I'm on my own, sadly, I tend to do more "prepare food" than "cooking" - the distinction being that in the first case, I'm basically performing several variations on "boil water and put something in it" than actually going from fresh ingredients and combining them ( Read more... )
