I feel great about today. Here's how my day went.
I got up, had a quick bite, checked my email, went for my run, then cleaned up and took my sister to the airport. She was up here for the weekend and we got to chat on the road - I don't chat with her often enough, even when I'm editing her papers. That was pleasant.
On the way back from SFO, I dropped in on mi querida
cryptodragon and had lunch with him. Tasty Indian food, a spicy wrap with a side of garlic naan. Garlic naan is part of how you know the universe is inherently good. We talked. ♥! In a surprise, I was able to park in downtown San Francisco without paying for it. I was happy about that, too.
From SF, I hopped over to visit
kickachupacabra, my brother. I've only visited his place once before, and I didn't get to look around. He lives in kind of a cruddy part of Oakland, but he and his housemates have been damn good at making their living space cool. For instance, when you walk in, the first thing that you see is their climbing wall. Shortly afterwards, you see the two murals that they and their friends have assembled, featuring vikings, dragons, the majestic moose, and so on. They have a very nice space for a garden in their back yard, too, and they're busy growers. So I hung around there for hours and hours. I played cribbage, I chatted about GTD-nerd stuff with one of them, I wrote a little, I was lent a fun book (McCarthy's Bar), and I helped make tomato sauce. The place smelled very good in the course of hours of tomato sauce simmering.
I also, of course, got on the wall. I got some rock-climbing wisdom from my brother (1: don't let go, 2: keep going up), learned how to fall, and swore at the wall a lot. I had a great time. Rock-climbing on that wall has a similar feel to climbing trees: fun, on the challenging side, and gloriously immature. I felt about ten years old, and I loved it. Their wall is pretty great. They have an easy side and a hard side and they're eventually going to connect them with a horizontal part.
Then I cruised home listening to Michael Jackson's greatest hits.
I am out of shape, but I exercised today and felt good. I did my run, got to SF, walked a mile, had lunch, walked a mile, went to
kickachupacabra's place, climbed around for a while.
I had good food today. I had a guacamole-based sandwich in the morning, Indian food for lunch, various tasty things at my brother's place (we dipped lots of bread in the sauce while it was simmering), and I have cake as I'm writing this. I don't think I ate anything today that I wasn't actively enthusiastic about eating, and very little that was at all premade or not organic.
I love the Universe, I feel good, I beam peace, love, and well-wishing at absolutely everyone reading this. I had a great day.
