ships I have loved, wrong!ships, lonely ships

Appropriate that I use the dark ships icon that is based on the drawing sylasyliasylia did before when she was doing a drawing meme.

I've had to update my Ships I have Loved post with three new ones. :) Henry Fitzroy/Vicki Nelson from Blood Ties, Tim Riggins/Lyla Garrity from Friday Night Lights and also *gasp* a new non-canon, wrong!ship of the loneliest, ( Read more... )

Interesting idea. I can see the potential but I can't bring myself to it because I love Matt so much.

It's like the Sacred Bovine of ships. More so even than Kara/Lee.

I really, really dislike Kara/Lee. The only episode I was kind of ok with it was when he kissed her when she returned with the arrow in season 2. Everything else makes me want to spork my brain. I like dysfunctional characters and characters with dysfunctional relationships but those two take it to new and spectacular heights. They just seem to hurt themselves and everyone else when their relationship becomes romantic - love them as friends though.

I like Matt as a character, too but the Julie/Matt pairing I see as one of those experimental first love things that I can't imagine lasting forever, so for me it's not the stuff of which OTPs are made. As a general rule, I'm such a cliché because I like opposites attracting, sparkage and that sort of thing. For me Matt and Julie will probably end up being really good friends but they don't make me go: "oooooh and woooooh" for instance the way Logan and Veronica used to in the Good Old Days - ie. before the Dark Days :P

I like the notion of Julie/Tim because once they both grow up a bit, there is potential for a lot of chemistry and sparkage. They're both very different, distinct people who might be interesting if they came within each other's ambit.

I really, really dislike Kara/Lee.I'm not a Kara/Lee shipper either, but for BSG it was the primary, dominant ship. Most of the fan fic was for that pairing, there were other ( ... )

Bwahaha. I love that you admit to it in a small font as if you're saying "I'm a koala, and I'm...a non-canon shipper *hides*" :D

I haven't actually watched all/any of the episodes of this show because of my bandwidth limitations but I just wanted to say that all those Riggins clips you posted onto youtube have converted me into thinking long hair and an obsession with american football (to the point where it's likely one of the few possible topics of conversation) can be kind of attractive in a man/er...17 year old high school student. *feels decrepit and lecherous* Anyway, kudos to your insistence and the quality of the show (what little I've seen of it anyway) and the fine broodiness of Taylor Kitsch because those were thoughts I never expected to entertain. So yes, with that in mind, and with practically no exposure to Matt/Julie (although the Powderpuff game interaction was adorable), I will sporadically have your back on this ship! *puts on sunsmart paper hat and proceeds to splash you with my paddle as I try unsuccessfully to ( ... )

*scoots back*

Just thought of something that could be a bit weird in the fic: Julie's only 15 as a character, right? It's really hard to tell because she acts so mature for her age, going by personal memory of maturity levels at that stage of adolescence, anyway. I don't know why but I get really wigged out about 15 year olds going around having intense relationships and sex and the like, although Tim's only 17 himself. But then, he also seems counterintuitively older given his character position at the start of the series. Perhaps its the sports thing. :P Is Tim older than Matt? Because if they're in the same grade level as Landry helping Tim out with his homework would indicate, I wonder why the minuscule age issue feels strange when the canon relationship follows similar age lines. Perhaps it's because Matt's such a cheek-pinch-y, lovable innocent.

...says the girl who hasn't seen a full episode yet. *headdesk*

Matt's a junior and 15/16 and I think Tim's a senior - 17 I think. You're right that Julie's very young though - only 15. There's one episode that bothers me a lot where she tells Matt she wants to have sex and Tami just freaks out and is like: "you're only 15!" and I'm agreeing because for me 15 is such a child. I couldn't imagine anything between Tim and Julie until Julie was several years older. I'm already a bit wigged out by her wanting to get that intimate with Matt when she's so young.

Hmm, making Julie several years older also helps with her unavailability angle too, so it seems like the perfect answer ( ... )
