Poll: Pic Spam Position

Feb 17, 2007 08:56

I have quite a lot of pic spams in my journal. My journal is mostly text but I do like pretty images as well. In my pic spam for Bones: episode 215 The Man in the Mansion, ambergold made the following valid observation:

I would have to put in a good word for fewer/less picspams in your posts, koala-I keep wanting to respond to them and then clicking on ( Read more... )

I'm not going to fill out your poll (:op) but did want to mention that one thing I find handy is just to post more individual posts - so if I'm going to do a picspam, I tend to make it in a post all of its own, not in a post with talk about other stuff. That way people can pick, words or pictures, and you don't have to make your picture posts smaller.

You're such a rebel :P But I think the above counts as 'other', so you kinda filled in the poll after all :D

My problem is that my text only posts, I find myself going: "And then this bit was awesome" and I want to illustrate it with an image.

Similarly, with image only posts, I want to say: "Oh and this is why I found this scene awesome" and then I get texty :P

O such a dilemma. *wrings paws*

OH JAROD AND PARKER <3

But if it's a text only post, then one or two pictures isn't going to be a problem. I have no solution for your wordiness in your picspams. Though the image of you wringing your paws is pretty awesome!

Maybe put some pics in your post and have others located in a photobucket...

so people can view them at their leisure. I mean that does make for a lot of waiting and my server tends to time out before I get them all but in the end I do like see the pictures you grab so if you were to give an option for people to see them elsewhere.... that would be cool. Yahoo or Photobucket or whatever else there is out there.

Lurker here :)
I love picspam-with-comments. (On the same note, I also love my super-fast DSL connection.) I haven't had the time to read your post on Man in the Mansion, but I made sure to bookmark that one for when I have some free time.

There was also an older, pic-heavy Bones post in your journal which I saved for reading and now can't find...

Hallo! Very happy to have been able to lure you out of the lurk. I don't think that there are enough people talking about Bones and I'm so happy when I meet more - most people are very qualified in their liking of it ie. 'I only watch for DB' or 'the show is crap but I watch it for eye candy'. They act as if it's a 'guilty pleasure'. I actually love the show, the characters and the dialogue and I'm not 'ashamed' of that liking.

Despite only having discovered Bones very recently I have a

Yeah, I see posts like that on occasion. But I hang out a lot on 206_bones, and while people there do appreciate the eye candy a lot, you don't get much of that 'guilty pleasure' feeling.

When I watched the pilot I didn't expect much but was prepared to do my darndest to try like the show. Turns out I didn't even have to try, I fell for these characters immediately. All of them, which is a rare thing. You seldomly find characters that well-defined right out of the gate. Guilty pleasure? Hell, no. It's a well-written show with clever dialog.

(Though all that TMI about Sully's penis size *may* have lowered my IQ several points, I dunno...)

So, I don't actually comment on your picspams because I really don't have anything to say about them, as I'm not in the fandom(s), but really? It's your journal. If people don't want to see pictures, they can go elsewhere. Its not like a huge deal or anything, and if someone doesn't have a fast connection, they can just x out or not click or what the fuck ever. Picspams, are, btw, the best thing about fandom besides fic and FANDOM itself, so really, keep them coming. They rock.

Thank you! I thought I'd just better check because I prefer to have images and text together. I'm greedy like that. Most of the time I just do what I want so long as any spoilers or giant things are behind an LJ-cut but I thought with this one I would double check to see whether or not the giant pic spams were an irritation generally.

No picspam is life is awesome is never stop! really! I promise, they're the currancy of hell, which is where most of fandom is and/or is headed. If they were of the boys from SPN I'd be there going *drool* over my screen, so yeah, keep going.
