Subject: Another extended weekend with you and 50,000 of your geekiest friends...

Sep 07, 2007 09:15

In other words, it's time for the big Dragon*Con post. This will be long, so I'll both lj-cut it and emboldenify various topics so people can skim for good bits if they're so inclined. Also note that akiko and I only overlapped in about 50% of our activities, so there will be plenty of different things in my long-ass post and hers.

Aha, so you had the Potted Parrot? Nicely done. Vic's is the one reason I regret not going to the whole fiasco.

DFS.

Yeah, the Potted Parrot was tasty. I also had a Tahitian Mudslide, which seems to involve very whipped-up ice cream.

And Dragon*Con is fun! ;) As long as you can stomach teeming hordes of people. Which, slightly surprisingly, even akiko manages for the whole weekend. It helps that they're all geeks, and even more-so that the age range skews decidedly higher than your average anime con.

I like people! What are you talking about? ESFJ, remember?

I just hate navigating hordes by myself. And I hate annoying people. But there's just something about being surrounded by nerds and feeling free to be a big old nerd.

"One new song he played, which I'll have to hunt down, was "Hermione the Pirate Queen", based on the fact that her canonical birthday happens to be Talk Like a Pirate Day."

Under "Hey, It's Can(non)", though i think the title is really supposed to be "Hey, It's Can(n)on"

Oh yeah, and there's the one picture of you posing in the pictures i just posted, plus several more i took of the reel that have you in them as well.

Also, since you seemed to enjoy at least one of the skits at the Masquerade you should check out some of the AX Masquerade clips from the post before that :)

Wow, I just went browsing through all your photos looking for myself and was going to report that I only managed to find the pirate party ones, when I look back at your comment more closely and see that's exactly what you said. Well then.

I wish I could find a photo of my Count outfit. I know a few people took 'em, since they said "oooh, top hat", but I haven't run across any in the D*C community posts yet.

Comments on your other photos mostly from the very end since that's what I remember: chain-mail kilt is insane. skuld-in-training is adorable. modified-Pete-sign is awesome.

Oh, and thanks for the Tom Smith link - I was hoping it'd be there but hadn't got around to looking yet.

Sorry. ^_^; We were really never there for very long, though. It was mostly in, food with another friend who lives there, out. Oh, do you do the Rennaisance Festival, though? We'll probably be back down for that sometime in its Oct-Nov run, and if you want I could ping you once we know which weekend.
