Subject: Another extended weekend with you and 50,000 of your geekiest friends...

Sep 07, 2007 09:15

In other words, it's time for the big Dragon*Con post. This will be long, so I'll both lj-cut it and emboldenify various topics so people can skim for good bits if they're so inclined. Also note that akiko and I only overlapped in about 50% of our activities, so there will be plenty of different things in my long-ass post and hers.

Aha, so you had the Potted Parrot? Nicely done. Vic's is the one reason I regret not going to the whole fiasco.

Yeah, the Potted Parrot was tasty. I also had a Tahitian Mudslide, which seems to involve very whipped-up ice cream.

And Dragon*Con is fun! ;) As long as you can stomach teeming hordes of people. Which, slightly surprisingly, even akiko manages for the whole weekend. It helps that they're all geeks, and even more-so that the age range skews decidedly higher than your average anime con.

I like people! What are you talking about? ESFJ, remember?

I just hate navigating hordes by myself. And I hate annoying people. But there's just something about being surrounded by nerds and feeling free to be a big old nerd.

I went with the liquid pineapple and a white cloud. :9

The liquid pineapple doesn't appear to be listed on the Seattle menu I have. Sounds yummy, though. So did nobody try the Samoan Fog Cutter this year?

I'm not sure that's it's name, though it did taste like liquefied pineapple. Pino Pepe maybe? It was tasty.

It was only 4 of us at dinner, and Chris doesn't drink.

Chris is a great big sissy. You should have fed him a couple of Queen's Park Swizzles, that would have brought him around.

Also, if you want another Pino Pepe, here's the recipe from the Trader Vic's Gourmet website.

--Piño Pepe
1 dash Trader Vic's Rock Candy Syrup
Juice of 1/2 lime
1/4 oz. lemon juice
2 oz. unsweetened pineapple juice
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. light Puerto Rican rum
Blend in electric mixer with 1 scoop shaved ice. Pour into hollowed-out fresh baby pineapple or ceramic version. Add ice cubes. Serve with straws.
