I was actually not planning on doing this interview in the first place, because I thought someone would do it...maybe someone even did, but I didn't see it until now. Either way...I missed doing Ruki Interviews and I wanted to know what "奈落" is about.

So thank you. I was pretty interested in Naraku too since it's the song that caught the most attention of me in this Shiver single. :3 Guess I still love the way, how they are. Ahh. And its also good to know Ruki is constantly thinking for the band and what their kind of music should be.

Yes, Naraku caught me the most as well and I kinda have it on a constant replay ^^;
I read a translation somewhere, which I though was good, yet the interpretation was a little over the top, so I wanted to see for myself.
I'm glad Ruki revealed this much. ^^

Thank you so much for this interview. Reading Ruki's insight into the lyrics he writes always either makes me smile or really think. He's so beautifully descriptive, even with the most simplest of songs. I too have to agree I kind of worry over the realism of the lyrics, and wonder of the origin behind each song.

I still can't get over how much they've grown over the years. It's almost unreal, but in a good way as well.

Where does the content come from? Especially with lyrics like Naraku's...it's hard to believe that they come out of nowhere!
And if they are dark and as stated "sorrowful"....it's nothing you would want him to feel, right?

I also think that "Naraku" and "SHIVER" are related...I think they describe the same thing from two angles....dunno...just a feeling, though.

For someone that you feel drawn to, whether you know them personally or not, the last thing you'd want them to feel or experience is darkness or something sorrowful, right? Knowing he likely had an experience of this, it's hurtful, but at the same time I can appreciate how he expresses it and makes it a work of art without making it complex. So he gets it out of himself and shares it with others.

When I reread the lyrics to "SHIVER" and "Naraku" I can definitely see what you mean by that. Like how people say 'there are two sides to every story', perhaps? That's how I'm currently looking at it!

I think that is the best part about music...about Gazette and many others. Because they share what they feel, others can also relate and feel themselves, be strong, be weak, be honest with themselves...
I admire that the most in them.

About SHIVER...hmmm...I really can't properly explain it. but I will think about it again and try later....for now I should go to bed...lol

THank you again for translating this. I was actually glad to see I wasn't that far off when I thot that Shiver sounded very retro-Gazette and obviously that is what the boys felt as well.

I have been thinking about the lyrics to Naraku and it is such a beautiful song, yet the lyrics actually disturbed me. BUt it is nice to see his view on it and I have a better understanding now.

I think I read to much before actually listening to SHIVER so I kinda "knew" what it was supposed to be like rather than getting it myself ... lol
But when I read that there are no artificial effects in it, it really struck me, too. haha

The lyrics for Naraku are very beautiful to me, because even though they have a rather plain descriptive tendency, the sound and what can be read between the lines make them very emotional.I think.

What did you think was disturbing about them?

Reading the lyrics overall, especially the last few lines about feeling the oppression (hands across the neck) but still being there. Seeing hell after all the love. Anyways it wasn't disturbed disturbed, it just moved something in me, which is what good lyrics do anyway ^^

And the lyrics are beautiful, there is no question about that. And the sound is just lovely, when I heard it live it just moved me.

I think I know what you mean...maybe its similar to what the interviewer describes as intriguing maybe, that a certain aspect of it just makes you "feel".
You don't really know what, but as you said, it moved something.

I loved the song live as well.
It's amazingly beautiful and fits in greatly with other passionate songs of their for the slow part :D
