Be careful!

Question: I guess I wasn't paying attention at the very beginning of this story. Is the Goop a regular project, a first-time attempt, or a once-in-a-lifetime experience? I hope it lasts a very long time considering the amount of challenge it's causing.

There are elements of all three in the answer. Lisa says that this is the most expedient way she's come up with to deal with the fact that the roof has been leaking for a long time. Search the keyword "roof" in my LJ and I think you'll find entries going back a long time on this subject. Initially she tried just laying plastic sheets over the most obvious holes, but not only did it not do a good job of keeping out the wet, but the sheets blew off in storms ( ... )

I'm afraid that's probably so. Pity, really. It's probably the oldest building in the town, and nearly the tallest. The church steeple across the street is probably slightly taller, but not by much.
