We're getting gale-force winds (50 mph / 80 kph / 43 kts) here, and the lights have been flickering and the internet cutting in and out. The computers are behind a UPS, but the internet connection requires utility power. Fortunately, the fireplace still works even if the power fails. Phone Back Online -- But Without an Address Book
I retraced all of my and Kayla's steps from yesterday, and searched the minivan, but no phone showed up. I have a feeling that the pouch in which it was traveling fell off of Kayla's purse somewhere and someone decided to keep it. Phone Follies
My beloved twin sister, who I love as if she was me, managed to lose my mobile phone sometime this afternoon when she took it with her on her errands to Reno/Sparks. I've put a temporary hold on the number and will go over to the Verizon Wireless store tomorrow to see if I can get a replacement. Unwanted Small World
I learned this afternoon that I am only one person away (via multiple people) from one of the people who was on board the American Eagle aircraft that crashed in the Potomac River last night after a collision with a military helicopter. Hair
Some months ago, Lisa suggested that she would like me with longer hair, so I started letting it grow. There was a false start when I went to a local barber asking to have the split ends trimmed and he ended up hacking it back short again, but I started over. Plumbing Repairs
There are two working bathrooms in Fernley House. (The upstairs bathroom plumbing has never worked because the previous owner ruined it, and we've never prioritized the substantial cost of fixing it.) Medical Update
I took the final does of the antibiotics for the sinus infection yesterday. Aside from some continuing coughing (chronic bronchitis) caused by the effects of the cold I had earlier this month, I think I'm mostly recovered ( Read more... ) -

Last night, I woke up in the wee hours of the morning and had a look out the front door. The forecast snow had arrived, a few hours later than originally predicted.

Grocery Run
