Haven't been around much lately partly because of yet another problem I've yet to have mentioned here.. Kinda similar to Rob's difficulties- losing functionality of both my hands (and sometimes down to my toes) due to some pretty extensive nerve compression up and down my spine. It's made manual tasks much more of an undertaking than they should be ( Read more... )

Rob had mentioned something about it on the BCK site, I think. Sorry to hear about it, though. I hope the therapy helps and that it proves to be a once-only problem.
I knew a girl in college who was a concert-level violinist but, the summer before her freshman year, screwed up her hand by practicing too much. She wasn't really able to play after that, or at least not practice for hours as necessary to maintain that level of play, and so she wound up switching to composing instead. Now, years, later, she's an electronic artist and laughs at the thought of herself doing classical violin. So, even if this does wind up being a chronic condition (which I hope it's not), and you wind up not able to do art as before (which I hope isn't the case), it could lead to something else that you eventually like even more. Just sayin'.

I'm twenty-five, and I've got back problems, hand problems, poor hearing, and my wrists can barely support weight for any period of time.

Welcome to the world of the early old.

Here comes the shitty sounding dark pragmatic whatever.....I am very sorry to hear about your problems, but I think these things are jsut challenges in your life to overcome(incidentally I feel very confident that you will overcome them fine). So I guess my pathetic advice is keep your head up, chin out, and anything or anybody that comes between you and your goals....spit in their face and walk on.

Well i'm done sounding like an asshole now.
