Another FOOD post!

I have become obsessed with reading vegan blogs lately and drooling over the amazing creations and noting recipes that I need to try. Fortunately I have all the time to try things out considering I'm on summer vacation (5 more weeks left). Unfortunately it is summer, 100+ degrees, and the dumbest time to be baking and using the oven. It hasn't ( Read more... )

Such a pretty job with the frostin!
And I love the little lime slice on the bars.
I think you learned a few things from your bentos ;)

I really like the black flower plate as well.
I need to buy a few pretty plates just for food photos!

Thanks!

I've been eying some plates just for food photos too. I was going to buy a cute green an brown one from Target but my mom and sister said I didn't need it. I had all intentions of buying it the next time I went (without them), and of course it was already gone.

If you've noticed I put some cups in the background too. I have many little tea cups Josh and I decorated for the wedding left over. This one was a gift from a student, I love the style and color :D

I probably need cute background items, rather than cute plates. That is one reason I zoom in so far on the food, because we have not cute placemats, tablecloths, wallpaper, etc.

Although, there is usually too much room on the plate around the food (even the small ones). It doesn't look odd in person, but a lot of empty space on a photo. I need to think about adding cute touches like the lime to fill it up ;)

I'd love to have a lot of little plates and cups and napkins, but I have no where to keep them!

Oh, and have you tried seitan somewhere else before, to know if you like it?
(and it's not just the recipe or some mistake made along the way so that you didn't like it this time)

Well, it wasn't stated on the menu that it was seitan, but I now know from this experience what is/isn't seitan. I was hoping that my favorite faux chicken items from 2 different veg restaurants were, so I posed the question on the veg community and it seems they are likely soy and mushroom mixes. No one seemed to know a name or recipe for it but one person pointed me to www.veggieworld.com that has tons of veggie substitutes. Unfortunately the minimum order is $50. I wouldn't be surprised if the restaurants order from them though. I'll have to make a trip to the Asian grocery to see if they have something similar.

And he was acting like that was not the normal way to cook it, so perhaps you would like it another way even if this does not work out.

Too bad about the $50 order. Anyone local you could split the cost with? At least with a large order you could try a few different kinds.

I think they came out pretty much as they should have, although I'm thinking I added a bit too much water. I'll keep experimenting with the stuff. I like that it is way cheaper than MorningStar products, but Josh didn't like these.

Yeah, if we had a larger freezer then I would be more likely to buy some. They only other veg who would try some is my sister.
