maxis_taste dare #26

I don’t think I’ve ever actually taken Cyd Roseland and Porthos out of the sim bin before, so they seemed the perfect family for maxis_taste dare 26!

Cyd and Porthos are the founders of the Dognatchi technique. Unfortunately the program, which focuses on ‘canine physical training through mental discipline’, hasn’t been as successful as they had hoped and they’ve settled for taking up residence in one of Pleasantview’s condos.

The place is sparsely furnished and pretty devoid of the things that make a house a home (apart from Porthos of course) as Cyd doesn’t plan on being here long.

His bedroom also doubles as his home gym.

He’s always been a big believer in physical training although he’s found his new job as a pickpocket (it’s just a temporary measure until Dognatchi takes off) requires him to be fitter than ever.

Cyd isn’t shy, although he isn’t very outgoing either. He’s polite enough to pretend to be interested in what people have to say.

But he often finds that he’d just prefer to spend time with his trust sidekick Porthos, no matter what else is going on around him.

Porthos works hard to learn the new skills Cyd teaches him, after all, he wants Dognatchi to be a success too. Then again Porthos thinks of himself as a sim, not a dog.

Except when he wants to scratch at the furniture, play in his own puddles or rummage through the trash; which he does a lot.

Cyd would probably have more time for a social life and his career if he didn’t have to spend half his time washing Porthos, cleaning his bed, and constantly filling his food bowl.

But they both know Cyd can’t resist this face.

Which is very lucky for Porthos, especially when Cyd discovers the mess he’s made just as he’d invited over the neighbour in the hope of getting lucky.

After what seems like endless days of cleaning up after Porthos and skilling, Cyd finally begins to climb the ranks professionally (the longer Dognatchi takes to get followers, the more Cyd realises he may have to make a career out of crime after all). He begins to worry about Porthos getting lonely and takes in a stray Tiffany.

Except for a few challenges over dog toys the two get along very well.

Unfortunately Tiffany is not toilet trained and also enjoys rolling in rubbish and attacking the furniture. Poor Cyd barely has time to take care of his own needs by the time he’s taken care of and cleaned up after Porthos and Tiffany, let alone try and skill.

Cyd was just thinking how much easier life would be if he had someone to share the burden with when Brandi LeTourneu walks past. The two take an instant (two bolt) liking to each other.

He invites her in and the two begin to get to know each other. Cyd can imagine happily spending the rest of his life with this woman, she too is a knowledge seeker and even works in the same career as him!

And while she is receptive to his affection she draws the line when she thinks he’s moving too fast. Although this is disheartening to Cyd, a part of him admires her for standing her ground. This doesn’t stop him from receiving her wrath for exactly the same things several more times though.

Eventually, after he learns to take his time and be patient, he gets the girl. Brandi moved in shortly after.

Brandi fits in to her new household seamlessly and is a great help taking care of Porthos and Tiffany. Which is a good thing as Tiffany is now expecting.

It turns out she isn’t the only one.

Cyd is excited by the news and drops to his knee immediately to propose. Brandi happily accepts and the two exchange their vows immediately.

With the impending additions they begin packing, after all, they’re going to need a bigger house.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I’d read that Porthos was a pain, and at first I didn’t get it, because he seemed to be well behaved...then Cyd went to bed. Poor Cyd, he really did do nothing but clean up, especially once he took in Tiffany.

I did enjoy playing them though, I’m planning on moving them to a bigger house, maybe Downtown, and focus on their careers so they’ll become the first family of crime ;)
