Introduction / Week One / Week Two / Week Three / Week Four

Faramound:

It was a happy time in the Faramound house as William and Samantha made the most of their married life after waiting so long to be together.

It was also a time for celebrations, as William and Samantha’s son Victor grew into a child and begun school.

Samantha’s son Zachary was also ready to celebrate his birthday. Zach was the first baby to be born in Forest Heights and while William didn’t usually approve of spending money on parties, he agreed it was an important occasion not only for the family but for the town.

Although in the end it was still mostly a teenage party with all the associated drama.

Eric Edmundson received Winter’s wrath when she caught him flirting with Guinevere Pauwau. Luckily for Winter, Eric didn’t respond in kind.

Guinevere on the other hand had no such qualms and gave as good as she got, which is probably what prevented Zach from responding similarly. He was upset the Guinevere had gone on a date with him even though she had apparently been seeing Eric, but not enough to let it ruin his birthday.

And in the end, his birthday wasn’t ruined, in fact everyone had a fantastic time.

And he was finally an adult!

He still loved playing his father’s guitar, although he had to accept that it was unlikely he was ever going to be able to make it as a professional musician. Especially as his step-father had so firmly decided there was much more pressing needs for the town.

Although he did get along well with his half-brother despite the age difference; perhaps if Victor become Mayor like his father so very much wanted, he could coax his younger sibling to build a performance venue.

Barkworth:

While his playboy ways may have caught up with him, Eric still felt on top of the world. He’d picked up a job as a playground monitor just for the money, but had quickly managed to fall into a position as a substitute teacher.

And it wasn’t exactly if the events of Zach’s party had ruined everything for him, they had just made him make a decision. When he was making salacious suggestions to Guinevere not long afterwards, she first responded by asking if he was joking. He assured her he wasn’t and she agreed, as long as he knew if he cheated on her now, she’d kill him. He liked that she was so straight forward, and not hung up on whether they were going steady or not, and he was fairly sure she was only joking about killing him.

Evan on the other hand was more than happy to go steady and soon he and Morgana Pauwau were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Evan wasn’t working as he was holding out his dream job, Samuel Uduak had promised to get him a job in the culinary career as soon he had all the connections to do so.

Edward on the other hand, who had finally joined his brothers at high school, didn’t have any career aspirations. He was more inclined to just have fun and find pleasure any way he could, even if that included being too rough in friendly games. He blamed it on his superior athletic strength which came from hours shooting hoops in the backyard.

Frank Jnr hoped having Di’s female presence back in the house would bring some direction into their youngest son’s life. He knew he was elated to have his wife back and the couple celebrated by having their family around to celebrate Frank and Diana’s golden anniversary.

Edmundson:

In a community so small, it was surprising the truth of Brian’s paternity hadn’t come out sooner. Samuel and Caitlin had walked past together while Sky and Brian were outside playing in the snow, and without knowing any better Brian had run over to greet his father. Caitlin at first seemed amused that the little alien child was so friendly until her husband was forced to confess the truth.

Caitlin was understandably furious, and hurt, by her husband’s betrayal. Although what seemed to hurt her the most was how long she had been deceived, and that she now felt her life had been nothing but a lie.

Brian didn’t understand why he had made the other lady so upset and was very shaken by the whole ordeal. His mother tried to console him and explain that it wasn’t his fault, but the experience had a profound effect on her son who became very reserved despite his naturally outgoing and playful nature.

When he began high school he dedicated himself to his studies and dreamed of being a great scientist like his grandfather who he was named after. It wasn’t that he avoided meeting new people, but he definitely preferred to spend his time with the people he was already close too.

Pauwau:

Things had become calm yet focused in the Pauwau household. Guinevere was now working full time at her mother’s law firm and the two of them were conquering the career ladder at an amazing speed. Merlin had once again begun to find interest in the world around him by studying it, and the twins were now happy to invite friends over for dinner as their father no longer walked around in his underwear.

Uduak:

Samuel wasn’t sure why, but Caitlin didn’t immediately kick her husband out, she quickly shot him down when he tried to apologise though. She explained that she simply had too much on line to expose his infidelity and end their marriage, even though she damn well felt like it. She was up for promotion to Chief of Police and it could be detrimental to her chances of promotion if she was caught in the middle of a messy divorce.

They also had their restaurant to consider, and subsequently Samuel’s career. So Samuel took to sleeping on the couch and the couple focused on their own careers, also managing to be civil enough with each other to work togther in their business. This approach seemed to pay off though as they awarded the best of the best award.

Samuel’s new sleeping conditions certainly took their toll on his aging body, but that didn’t stop him from reaching the position of restaurateur. Unfortunately though, a bad business decision saw him demoted to executive chef just when he was so close to achieving his life’s dream.

So caught up in running the restaurant, their careers, and their marriage problems, Caitlin and Samuel had failed to notice that their daughter too had been affected. It was only when Samuel caught his daughter sneaking out that they realised not only how much had she been hurt by her father’s deceit, but that she had found consolation in the arms of an older man.

Scott Hanby worked in the military, but had made the trip to Forest Heights on a day off to try the restaurant the newspaper had raved about. The restaurant had been closed but he would never consider that day a waste. Winter, who since finishing school, was at home alone during the day had come out to greet him and they had talked for hours. Since then, every day he had free from work, he returned to see the young woman who had stolen his heart.

As her parents had been so involved in their own issues, the only person she felt she could talk to was her aunt. Samantha told her if she was really in love with Scott that she should be with him; from experience she knew the regret that came from wasting precious time that you could have had with the love of your life.

Spurred on by her aunt’s advice, she gave her parents an ultimatum; either Scott was able to move in, or she moved out. This not only forced her parents to come together in discussion, but to acknowledge that she was growing up. Samuel wasn’t happy with the idea of this relative stranger living with them, but in the end, it was their daughter’s happiness that mattered to them most.

So Scott Hanby moved in, leaving his job in the military behind for the woman he loved. He knew he could help out in Winter’s family’s restaurant, but he was keen to earn independently for he and Winter. Winter instead encouraged him to follow his dream of being a scientist, assuring him she wasn’t with him for financial security.

Scott could understand that Winter’s parents, who from what Winter told him had been so caught up in their own problems they had been completely oblivious to anything else, might be uneasy with their relationship. It was only a few years difference, but it seemed to make all the difference in that she hadn’t celebrated her twenty-first birthday yet. Winter’s father made it very clear from the onset that he wasn’t happy with the situation, and Scott didn’t even bother to broach the subject of marriage with him.

Much to his relief, Scott found Winter’s mother much more accommodating, and despite the fragile ground her own marriage was on, encouraged Scott, if he truly wanted to, to propose to her daughter. Scott assured Caitlin he very much wanted to marry her daughter and would propose, but would wait until she celebrated her daughter.

And true to his word, when Winter celebrated her birthday he did propose, which she happily accepted. After all the upheaval of recent times, she had only wanted to celebrate her birthday with one person, and that was Scott. When it came to it, she felt similarly about them getting married, so instead of a ceremony, the two exchanged vows and then celebrated in private.

It appeared soon they would have another reason to celebrate.
